Saddlebags
The Collections journal is a wonderful museum and a terrible toolbox. You know the feeling: the pull is starting, you need the right toy or mount, and you are three tabs deep in a browsing interface that was never built for speed. Saddlebags exists to fix exactly that problem. It is a customizable panel that holds the toys, pets and mounts you actually use, organized the way you want, one click away from your minimap or a macro.
What Saddlebags Actually Does
At its core, Saddlebags for World of Warcraft puts toys, pets and mounts in one place. Click an icon to use the toy, summon the pet, or mount up. That single behavior frees up action bar slots you have been hoarding for years, and it means your favorite travel mount is never more than a click from your minimap.
The panel is built around collapsible groups with bars you name yourself. "Fishing", "Hearth", "Portals", "Raid night" — whatever you would actually call them. Collapse the ones you are not using and keep the panel tight. Multiple pages let you keep a page per role, per activity, or per alt, each with its own name and its own icon, and you switch between them from the dropdown at the top of the window.
Search, Favorites and Drag-and-Drop
The picker search is smarter than you might expect. Type into it and it searches your collection, including mounts by their flavor text as well as their name, so "flying" or "vendor" helps you find what you mean when you cannot remember what it is called. Favorites sort to the top, and only things you have actually collected are listed, so there is no clutter from items you never earned.
Rearranging is deliberately physical. Hold Shift and drag an icon to move it within a section or to another one. Drag a section header to reorder sections. Edit mode handles the bigger tidying-up jobs: click icons to remove them, rename or delete sections and pages, and pick a new page icon when your layout evolves.
Usable Mid-Fight
This is the detail that separates Saddlebags from a lot of convenience addons. You can open the panel during a pull with a key from Keybindings, Saddlebags. The minimap icon cannot open a panel like this during combat and a few UI elements are disabled while you are fighting, so the keybind is the reliable path when seconds matter. If your minimap is crowded, hide the button entirely and use the slash command instead.
Getting Started and How to Install
If you want to download Saddlebags, grab it from your usual addon source and drop it into your Interface/AddOns folder. The in-game onboarding is short:
- Click the satchel on your minimap, or type /sbags.
- Click the + to add a bar to the Saddlebags panel.
- Click the + under that bar to open the picker and search your toys, mounts and pets.
- Click to add, then Shift-drag to rearrange icons or use edit mode for bigger changes.
For players who would rather not manage folders by hand, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install path for Saddlebags, pulling the current build straight into your addon directory and keeping it updated between patches. That is a genuine time-saver when a new game version lands and half your addons need attention.
Commands and Keys
- /sbags or /saddlebags — toggle the window.
- /sbags minimap — show or hide the minimap button.
- Keybindings → Saddlebags — toggle the window, or turn pages; both work in combat.
Version Compatibility
Saddlebags is designed to travel with you across World of Warcraft game versions. Whether you play Retail, Classic, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, or Mists of Pandaria, the addon targets the collections systems those clients support, so the panel behaves consistently no matter which era you are logged into. Layouts are saved per account, which means your "Fishing" bar looks the same on every character you play.
Under the hood, Saddlebags bundles LibDBIcon and its dependencies for the minimap button. If another addon has already loaded a newer copy of that library, the newer one is used instead, which keeps things clean in heavily modded setups. Bug reports and suggestions are welcome on the issue tracker, and the addon was built by a developer who wanted this exact tool for their own play sessions.
The Bottom Line
Saddlebags does not try to replace the Collections journal. It gives you a fast, personal layer on top of it: the toys, pets and mounts you reach for constantly, arranged in sections you named, searchable by name or flavor text, and reachable in combat through a keybind. Set it up once, collapse what you are not using, and the next time a raid lead calls for a summon or you need your slow-fall trinket, it is one click away instead of a scavenger hunt.
