Recollect: Know What Every Item in Your Bags Is For

Recollect tells you what each item in your bags and bank is for and whether you still need it in World of Warcraft.

Recollect

Every World of Warcraft player knows the feeling: your bags are bursting, your bank is a museum of forgotten loot, and you cannot remember whether that stack of old reagents still matters. Recollect answers that question for you. This addon audits your items and tells you what each one is for, whether anything still needs it, and whether it is finally safe to let go.

What Recollect Actually Does

Recollect for World of Warcraft shows what each item in your bags, bank and warband bank is for, and whether you still need it. Hover an item and hold Alt, and an audit panel appears beside the tooltip with a verdict, the uses that matter most, where the item comes from, and a tip when one applies. The verdicts are clear and honest: Needed, Use now, Useful, Can't tell, Junk, Outdated, Lower level or Purpose done.

What makes it trustworthy is that Recollect never decides for you. Suggestions like "most likely safe to sell or delete, but that's your call" always come with their reason attached, so you stay in control of your own inventory.

Digging Into Item Details

Press Alt+D while the panel is showing and the item details window opens, giving you everything Recollect knows about a single item without a trip to a website. Inside you will find:

  • Still needed? A suggestion with a short reason, hover for the rest.
  • What it's for: what the item is, its Use line, and a tile for each kind of use with counts and how many are still open.
  • Achievements: what the item counts toward, with progress bars.
  • How to get more: every source, from vendors to drops to rewards, with full prices and requirements.
  • Checks: every check Recollect ran, with green checks for what is done and red crosses for what is still to get.

Alt+W sets a waypoint when the panel names a vendor, treasure or NPC, routing through TomTom when installed or the game's own map pin otherwise.

The Recollect Audit and Supported Versions

Type /rec or click the minimap button to open the Recollect Audit, a sortable, searchable list of every stack you hold with its verdict and reason. You can filter by verdict, place, use or why Recollect cannot tell, and switch between My Items, All Characters, or any alt as they were at their last login. Right-click the minimap button for settings, or run /rec settings, /rec guide and /rec changelog for everything else.

Recollect supports Retail, Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm and MoP, so whether you are cleaning out a Classic-era bank alt or managing a modern warband bank, the addon adapts to the version you play. Addon compatibility is handled cleanly across all of them, with the same verdict system and audit window in every client.

If you would rather skip manual setup entirely, the foxygame.net launcher installs Recollect in one click alongside the rest of its addon catalog, keeping it updated automatically whenever a new version lands. That means no more hunting through folders or wondering whether your copy is current before a raid night.

How to Install Recollect

To download Recollect, grab it from your preferred addon source and drop the folder into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory. Restart the game or reload your UI, and the feature guide opens by itself on your first login to walk you through the basics. From there, /rec help lists every command, and /rec feedback lets you report anything odd directly to the author.

Curator mode is optional and off by default, available only in the Americas and Oceania region. It helps the author find missing or wrong item data while you play, recording game IDs and positions but never names, chat, gold, currencies or your item counts. You can approve each collection manually or turn it off at any time.

Why It Belongs in Your Addon Folder

Bag clutter is a quiet tax on every play session, and Recollect removes the guesswork without ever taking the decision away from you. Its verdicts are transparent, its item details are thorough, and its audit window turns a messy bank into a clear, searchable list. Whether you are a returning player facing years of accumulated junk or a veteran who simply wants a cleaner inventory, Recollect gives you the reasons you need to finally let things go.
