Player Activity View

Multiplayer Minecraft has always had a communication gap. You can see a player standing at a crafting table, but you have no idea whether they are actually crafting, browsing a chest, or simply staring at a wall while AFK. Player Activity View closes that gap by broadcasting each player's current activity to everyone nearby, turning silent avatars into readable, animated characters.

This mod is a from-scratch reimplementation inspired by WATUT (What Are They Up To) by Corosus, rebuilt for modern Minecraft with an independent codebase and no dependency on CoroUtil. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the original author, but it carries the same core idea forward with cleaner systems and current-version support.

What Player Activity View Actually Does

At its heart, the mod tracks a per-player activity state and syncs it across the network. That state drives particles, on-screen indicators, and a small tilted panel that appears in front of each player, mirroring whatever menu they have open. If someone is deep in their inventory, you see it. If they are typing in chat, you see it. If they walked away ten minutes ago, you see that too.

Typing Indicators

Animated particles rise above a player's head whenever they are typing in chat, editing a book, or writing on a sign. An on-screen "is typing..." message reinforces the cue, so you know a reply is coming before it lands.

GUI Visualizer and Live Screen Mirror

The GUI visualizer identifies the exact interface a player has open: inventory, chest, crafting table, furnace, enchanting table, anvil, beacon, brewing stand, dispenser, grindstone, hopper, horse, loom, villager trading, command blocks, and more. The live screen mirror then captures, crops, and renders a preview of that menu as a small tilted panel held in front of the player, visible to anyone standing nearby.

Idle Detection, Inventory Particles, and Arm Animations

  • Idle detection flags players after a configurable timeout, with an icon above the head and in the tab list.
  • Animated item particles fly between players and containers whenever items move, making transfers readable at a glance.
  • Players using GUIs point, click, and type instead of standing frozen, with per-item JSON tuning for the arm poses.

Versions, Loaders, and Installation

Player Activity View supports Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge 21.1.249 and above, Minecraft 26.1.2 on NeoForge 26.1.2 and above, Minecraft 26.2 on NeoForge 26.2.0.32-beta and above, and Minecraft 26.2 on Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer with Fabric API. All builds share a single project page, so pick the file that matches your loader and game version.

If you would rather skip manual file hunting, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process: it lists Player Activity View in its add-on catalog, checks your installed Minecraft version against each available build, and installs the correct one in a single click. Auto-updates then keep the mod current without you touching a folder.

To install manually, first confirm your loader. The Fabric build requires Fabric API; the NeoForge build has no extra dependencies. Drop the matching JAR into your mods folder, then launch the game. The mod runs on both client and server, though the client is required for the visuals while the server handles the synced config.

Server-Synced Configuration

Every feature toggles client-side, but server owners can force settings for everyone through a synced config. That means a server admin decides what gets broadcast, which keeps the experience consistent and prevents players from hiding their activity in competitive settings. Privacy stays in the hands of whoever runs the world.

Commands and Structure

One command covers maintenance: /player_activity_view reload JSON refreshes the arm-adjustment configuration from its JSON file without a restart. Internally, the mod splits cleanly into a model for per-player state and idle timing, a screen mirror module for framebuffer capture and panel rendering, a particle system for typing and inventory transfers, arm adjustment logic with JSON tuning, and the config layer itself.

Why It Belongs in Your Modpack

Player Activity View solves a problem most multiplayer mods ignore: presence without context. Knowing that a friend is browsing a chest, enchanting gear, or idle in a menu changes how you coordinate, trade, and explore together. It adds personality to avatars that would otherwise stand motionless, and it does so without touching gameplay balance.

If you want to download Player Activity View for Minecraft, check your loader and version first, then install the matching build. Whether you run it on a small survival server or a busy public world, the result is the same: you always know what everyone is up to.
