KIC Greeter: Friendly Auto Group Messages for WoW

KIC Greeter sends friendly, configurable group greetings and Mythic+ messages automatically for World of Warcraft. Download it and never type the same line again.

KIC Greeter

Every Mythic+ runner knows the ritual: you join a pug, someone says hi, the key gets timed, and the group disbands without a word. KIC Greeter is a lightweight addon that handles those small social moments for you, sending friendly, configurable messages when you join a group, time a keystone, or successfully pass a Vote to Abandon. Inspired by Kleenex, it keeps introductions and end-of-run chatter warm without making you type the same lines over and over.

What KIC Greeter Actually Does

The addon focuses on three specific events, and each one has its own editable message list. When an event qualifies, KIC Greeter picks one enabled message at random and sends it. That randomness matters: your greetings never look copy-pasted, even if you run dozens of keys a week.

  • Join Greetings: Exactly one random greeting fires when you join another player's group, whether that is a party or a raid within your size limit.
  • Timed Mythic+: When a keystone dungeon is completed inside the timer, one random message from the Timed Mythic+ list goes out.
  • Successful Vote to Abandon: If a Vote to Abandon passes and the group leaves the dungeon, KIC Greeter sends a message from the Abandoned Mythic+ list.

Predictable by Design

KIC Greeter is built to stay quiet when it should. It does not greet when you form your own group by inviting someone else, it does not repeat a greeting after a /reload, and it never celebrates a depleted key. Failed or cancelled abandon votes stay silent too, and leaving a dungeon normally does not count as a successful abandon. Messages are routed automatically to the right channel: instance chat for matchmade groups, raid chat for raids, and party chat for normal parties.

The Maximum group size setting gives you fine control over who hears your greeting. The count includes every member, including you, and valid values run from 1 to 40 with a clean-install default of 4. A limit of 5, for example, allows greetings in groups of up to five players and suppresses them in groups of six or more. Larger groups simply stay silent.

How to Install KIC Greeter

Installation is the standard World of Warcraft routine. Download KIC Greeter, extract the folder into your Interface/AddOns directory, and restart the game client. If you prefer a smoother path, the foxygame.net launcher installs KIC Greeter in a single click and keeps it updated automatically, which saves you from manually tracking new releases. Once in game, click the draggable gold G button on the minimap or type /kicgreet to open the configuration window. The addon requires no external libraries and does not replace the Group Finder interface, so it plays nicely with whatever else you run.

Editing Your Messages

The editor offers three independent tabs: Join Greetings, Timed Mythic+, and Abandoned Mythic+. Every row shows a number, the full message text, an Edit button, a Remove button, and a Use checkbox. Disabled entries get a grey overlay so their state is obvious at a glance. New custom lines can be added from the text field at the bottom of each tab, and if every message in a tab is disabled or removed, that event simply stays silent. A clean install ships with 10 join greetings (first 5 enabled), 10 timed Mythic+ messages (first 2 enabled), and 10 abandon messages (first 3 enabled), ranging from short lines like "Hi!" and "o7" to more playful group banter. Everything is editable, and all changes, window positions, and the minimap button position are saved between sessions.

Version and Addon Compatibility

KIC Greeter is designed for World of Warcraft Retail and works across modern client versions. Players on Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP should check the addon's compatibility notes before installing, since the Mythic+ features only apply where that content exists. The core join-greeting behavior is simple enough that it remains useful on older clients, but always confirm the supported interface version for your specific game build.

When chat is temporarily locked down, KIC Greeter respects the restriction and uses short, bounded retries for Mythic+ outcome messages instead of losing them. Pending messages are cancelled if the relevant group state changes, and existing users keep their saved lists and settings after updates. It sends no whispers, no guild messages, and no public-channel spam, and it never automates invites or applications.

The Bottom Line

KIC Greeter is a small quality-of-life addon with a narrow, well-defined job: keep group introductions and end-of-run messages friendly without adding noise. If you pug often, download KIC Greeter for World of Warcraft and let it handle the hellos and the GGs while you focus on the key.
