KeyCoach: Never Guess Your Mythic+ Forces Again

KeyCoach predicts your Mythic+ enemy forces before each boss so you always know whether to pull more for World of Warcraft.

KeyCoach

Every Mythic+ runner knows the moment. You are standing in front of the last boss, the timer is tight, and one question decides the key: will you hit 100% enemy forces, or do you need to pull more first? The default UI will not answer that. KeyCoach for World of Warcraft does, with a single line that learns from your own runs and tells you exactly where you stand.

What KeyCoach Actually Does

KeyCoach is a pace and forces tracker built around one idea: your past keys are the best guide to your current one. Every time you kill a boss, the addon records how much enemy forces progress you had at that exact moment. Every time you finish a key, it records the final count. Over time, it builds a personal database of routes, and then it puts that knowledge to work in real time.

Before each boss, the line shows what your previous runs typically added from that point onward, plus how much more you would need to pull right now if the current pace would leave you short. After each kill, it prints whether you are ahead of or behind your usual count at that boss. No spreadsheets, no mental math, no guessing while the timer bleeds.

It Prioritizes the Routes You Chose

Runs where you were the tank are weighted first, because those are the routes you actually picked and the pulls you deliberately made. If you have no tanked runs recorded for a dungeon yet, KeyCoach falls back to all runs and clearly says so, so you always know how reliable the prediction is.

Why This Works in Patch 12.1

Patch 12.1 made hostile identity, cast identity, and per-mob forces values secret to addons inside instances. A lot of route tools broke overnight. KeyCoach sidesteps the problem entirely: scenario criteria such as forces count and boss kills remain readable, and those are the only data points the addon uses. It does not need to know which mob you are fighting, only how far along the objective you are.

Commands and Daily Use

The command set is short enough to memorize in a minute:

  • /pace — show or hide the line
  • /pace reset — reset the position of the display
  • /pace list — see how many runs have been learned per dungeon
  • /pace forget — forget the dungeon you are currently in

That last one matters more than it looks. If you change your route for a dungeon, or a patch shifts the meta, you can wipe the old data and let KeyCoach relearn from your fresh runs instead of clinging to outdated numbers.

Version and Compatibility Notes

KeyCoach is designed for the modern Retail client where the Patch 12.1 API restrictions apply, and that is where it shines. If you also play Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, or MoP, keep in mind that those clients do not share the same scenario API behavior, so the addon's core prediction logic is built around Retail Mythic+ dungeons. Check the addon's compatibility listing for your specific client before you download KeyCoach, and confirm the version string matches your game build.

Installing It Without the Usual Headache

If you would rather skip manual folder juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process in one click, dropping KeyCoach straight into your addons directory with the correct path already set. Manual installation is still simple: close the game, place the extracted folder inside your Interface/AddOns directory, and log back in. Either way, the how to install step takes under a minute, and the addon appears in your addon list on the next character screen.

Once installed, run a few keys and let the data accumulate. The first run in a dungeon gives you nothing but a baseline. The third or fourth run is where the line starts feeling almost prophetic, because it now knows your habits: where you overpull, where you slack, and how much cushion you usually carry into the final boss.

Who Should Use It

KeyCoach is not a routing addon and it will not tell you which packs to skip. It answers one narrow question extremely well, and that narrowness is its strength. Pug tanks who want a safety net, guild groups pushing score, and anyone tired of losing keys to a 97% forces count at the last boss will get immediate value. If you already track forces in your head and never miss, you probably do not need it. Everyone else should give it a try.

The bottom line: Mythic+ is a game of information, and the default UI withholds the one number that decides close keys. KeyCoach gives it back, using your own history as the source. Learn it once, and you will wonder how you ever ran keys without it.
