Champion's Tour Alert
If you have ever logged in, flown across Khaz Algar, and only then realized you missed a PvP world quest you needed for "A Champion's Tour: The War Within," you already understand the problem Champion's Tour Alert solves. This lightweight addon watches the eight tracked PvP world quests tied to the achievement, tells you the moment one is available, and keeps a running tally of your progress toward the Ruby-Eyed Stagshell battle pet. No more guessing, no more spreadsheets, no more alt-tabbing to a wiki page that may or may not be current.
The addon is built for World of Warcraft Retail, with a target of patch 12.1.0, and it bundles every library it needs, so there is nothing else to download. If you play Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, or MoP, keep in mind that Champion's Tour Alert is designed around modern Retail systems, so those versions are not supported.
What Champion's Tour Alert Actually Does
At its core, the addon watches for a specific set of PvP world quests: Elemental Excavation, Digging into Trouble, Fending off Darkness, Polarized, Along for the Ride, Foggy Faceoff, Bells of the Light, and Serving the Queen. When one of them appears in the rotation, you get a popup, the quest name and zone are printed in chat, and an optional sound plays. By default, it only pings you for achievement criteria you still need, which keeps the noise down once you have knocked out a few of the eight.
The detection logic rechecks as quest data loads and continues running while you play, so a quest that appears mid-session does not slip past you.
Minimap Progress at a Glance
The LibDBIcon minimap button plays nicely with popular minimap managers and gives you a compact status readout. Hover over it and you will see each quest's progress, current availability, time remaining, and your total out of 40 completions. Click it to open the full status window, and drag it wherever you like, because the position is saved between sessions.
Color coding does the heavy lifting:
- Green means a criterion is complete, or a quest sits at 5/5.
- Yellow covers partial progress from 1/5 to 4/5.
- Red flags a quest you have not touched at 0/5.
- Grey indicates unknown progress that has not loaded yet.
A green border around the icon means a tracked quest is available or the achievement is finished. A plus sign means some progress has not loaded, so the number you see is a minimum rather than a final count.
Commands Worth Memorizing
Everything runs through the /cta slash command. Type /cta to open quest status and achievement progress, or /cta check to force another scan. /cta test previews the popup and sound using clearly labelled sample data, which is handy before you trust it in the field. /cta debug dumps the exact Blizzard API detection values for each quest, /cta sound toggles audio, and /cta all switches between alerting only for unfinished criteria or all eight quests. You can also use /cta off and /cta on to control automatic alerts, and /cta help lists everything.
Installation and Practical Notes
Learning how to install is straightforward: drop the folder into your Interface/AddOns directory and restart the client. If you would rather skip manual file management, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process, letting you add Champion's Tour Alert through a searchable addon catalog and keeping it updated automatically between patches. That approach saves a surprising amount of fiddling when Blizzard ships a new build.
Because these are PvP world quests, War Mode matters. Turn it on and unlock the relevant quests first. Azj-Kahet quests may require a weekly pact and a visit to the zone before the game exposes them to addons. Remember that the addon can only report data your character can actually see, so "not detected" does not prove a quest is absent from the rotation. Checks and popups are deferred during combat, with the tooltip showing the last checked status until the fight ends. Settings are shared across characters, and alerts fire once per detected rotation per login session, so a reload or fresh login can alert again.
If you are chasing the Ruby-Eyed Stagshell and want a cleaner path to it, Champion's Tour Alert is a focused, no-frills companion. Download Champion's Tour Alert for World of Warcraft, enable War Mode, and let the minimap icon do the remembering for you.
