Aggreao!!: See Who Holds Aggro Before the Mob Does

Every tank knows the feeling. The pull is going fine, then a damage dealer sneaks up the threat list and rips the boss away. Aggreao!! exists to stop that from happening. It is a small, movable window that lists the aggro of your current target: who is holding it, how close everybody else is to taking it, and in what order. The player on top is the one the mob is hitting right now. That is the whole idea, and it works beautifully.

What the Aggreao!! Window Shows You

Target a mob and the window fills with the players and pets that have threat on it, highest first. Each row has a bar in the player's class color that fills as they get closer to pulling the mob. A full bar means they take the aggro, and the percentage next to it tells you exactly how close they are. If you are further down the list than the rows shown, your own row replaces the last one, so you always see where you stand. Under the title bar you will find the mob's name. Out of combat, the window says so instead of showing made-up numbers, which is a nice touch of honesty.

Roles at a Glance

A tank, healer or damage icon sits next to each name, taken from the roles assigned in your group or from your own specialization. Where the game does not tell addons this information, Aggreao!! only guesses for classes that cannot do anything else, such as mage, rogue, hunter and warlock, and leaves the icon empty otherwise. No fake data, no confusion.

Warning When You Are About to Pull

Turn on the sound and Aggreao!! plays it once when your threat reaches a percentage of what it takes to pull the mob. The default is 80 percent, and you can choose anything from 50 to 100. The window border also turns red. You pick the sound from a short list and can try it from the preferences. It sounds once per approach, then re-arms when you drop back, get the aggro or change target. It also stays quiet if you are a tank, since you actually want that aggro.

Compatibility Across World of Warcraft Versions

One of the best things about this addon is how broadly it runs. Aggreao!! for World of Warcraft covers Retail, TBC Anniversary, Classic Era and WoW Forever, and it behaves well on the older clients too. The addon is also compatible with other modern versions players still enjoy, including WotLK, Cataclysm and MoP, so whether you are leveling through Outland or raiding in Pandaria, the threat list is there.

What each client tells addons about threat is not the same everywhere. Where the game provides it, the list shows everybody's threat. Where it does not, or hides it from addons, Aggreao!! still shows who the mob is attacking, but not how close the others are, and the pull warning cannot work. If you find a client where something looks wrong, the developer asks that you say so.

How to Install Aggreao!!

Installation is the usual World of Warcraft routine. If you want to download Aggreao!!, grab the addon folder, drop it into your Interface/AddOns directory, and restart the game. The minimap button, a right-click on the window or the /aggreao command opens the preferences, and everything can be saved per character or shared across your whole account. If you would rather skip the manual folder work, the foxygame.net launcher installs Aggreao!! in a single click and keeps it updated automatically, so your threat display never falls behind a new game patch.

A Window That Stays Out of the Way

The title bar has a padlock to lock its position and a button to close it. In combat the window is click-through, so your mouse goes to the game behind it. You can hide it when not in combat if you only want it while fighting, choose how many players to list, and adjust the scale and background opacity. Hunters and warlocks can include pets in the list or leave them out.

Commands Worth Knowing

  • /aggreao or /agg opens the preferences
  • /agg toggle shows or hides the window
  • /agg lock and /agg unlock control its position
  • /agg reset puts the window back at its default place
  • /agg minimap shows or hides the minimap button
  • /agg changelog and /agg version report what is new

Final Thoughts

Aggreao!! does one job and does it well: it tells you who has the aggro and who is about to steal it. The class-colored bars, the role icons and the pull warning turn a chaotic fight into something you can actually read. It is lightweight, configurable, and available in English and Spanish. If you have ever lost a boss to a careless damage dealer, this addon is worth a spot in your Interface folder.
