Opening the settings

Type /keyboardui or the short form /kui in the chat box and press Enter.

This does two things at once: it opens the KeyboardUINext options panel, where every key listed below can be reviewed or rebound, and it reads a short spoken summary of the main shortcuts, so you can hear your current setup without reading the screen.

The panel is also reachable through the game menu, under Options, AddOns, KeyboardUINext.

How the addon works

KeyboardUINext does not replace the game's interface. It sits on top of whichever window you already have open and lets you move through its contents with the keyboard, reading each entry aloud as you land on it.

Two rules explain almost everything:

• The shortcuts are only active while a supported window is open and you are out of combat. Outside those conditions your normal keys behave normally.
• The same core keys mean the same thing everywhere. Once you know how to move through your bags, you know how to move through the merchant, the mailbox, or your talents.

Each window then adds its own extra keys on top, for the things only that window can do. Press Alt + Space at any time to hear what the current window offers.

Global shortcuts

These work in every supported window. They are the defaults; all of them can be changed in the options panel.

Moving around

• Ctrl + Down / Up

  Next or previous entry. This is the key you will use most.

• Ctrl + Shift + Down / Up

  Jump to the next or previous group or section — the next bag, the next category, the next block of a window.

• Ctrl + Tab

  Switch tabs, in windows that have them.

Acting on the current entry

• Ctrl + Enter

  Do the main action on the entry you are on. What that means depends on the window: accept the quest, buy the item, use the item.

• Ctrl + Right / Left

  Cycle forward or backward through the other actions available on this entry, when it has more than one.

• Alt + 1 … Alt + =

  Direct hotkeys for a window's numbered actions. Alt + Space tells you which ones are live right now.

Listening

• Alt + Space

  List the hotkeys available in the current window, including the ones specific to that window.

• Ctrl + Space

  Read the full description of the current entry — the whole tooltip — without changing anything.

• Ctrl + Backspace

  Read the title of the window you are in, to confirm where you are.

• Alt + V

  Stop speaking immediately. Useful when a long tooltip is in the way.

Searching and filtering

• Ctrl + F

  Search within the current window. Type your text and press Enter; press Escape to cancel.

• Ctrl + Shift + F

  Clear the active search or filter and go back to the full list.

Other

• Alt + T

  Right-click your current target's portrait, without using the mouse.

• Alt + O

  Toggle whether a window is read automatically the moment it opens.

The Bags module

Bags is the most developed part of the addon. Open your bags as you normally would and the addon announces a summary first: how many slots are free out of your total, and how much gold you are carrying.

From there, Ctrl + Down and Ctrl + Up walk through every item you own, crossing from one bag into the next automatically, including the reagent bag. Ctrl + Shift + Down and Up jump straight to another bag.

What you hear on each item

Ordinary items are read as their stack count, name, and, for crafting reagents, their quality — for example, "5 times Enchanted Dust, quality 2 of 3". Gear is read with its item level instead, followed by what it would replace: "1 times Ironbark Shoulders, 610, replaces equipped Ironbark Shoulders, 597." That comparison is the fastest way to judge a drop without opening the character sheet.

Press Ctrl + Space on any item for the complete tooltip. At the end of it, the addon adds how many of that item you own in total: in your bags, in your bank, on your other characters, and in the warband bank.

One key, the right action

Ctrl + Enter changes meaning based on what else is open, so you never have to remember a separate key per window. With a vendor open it sells the item. With the mailbox open it attaches it. With the bank open it deposits it. With a trade or the auction house open it picks the item up. With nothing else open it equips, uses, or opens the item, whichever applies.

This also means a potion will not be drunk by accident while you are selling: as long as a vendor, mailbox, bank, trade, or auction window is open, the item is routed there instead.

Bag shortcuts

These are the keys specific to the Bags window. Pressing Alt + Space while your bags are open reads this list aloud.

• Ctrl + F

  Search your items by name. Type and press Enter. Navigation is then limited to the matches, and non-matching items are dimmed on screen. Control F searches items by name.

• Ctrl + R

  Cycle the category filter: everything, recent, gear, consumables, materials, recipes, quest, gems, miscellaneous. Control R filters by category.

• Ctrl + Shift + F

  Clear the search or the category filter and return to all items.

• Alt + D

  Delete the selected item, in two steps. The first press asks for confirmation, the second press deletes. Moving to another item, closing the bags, or waiting a few seconds cancels it. Alt D deletes the selected item, in two steps.

• Alt + 1

  Disenchant the selected item. Works on weapons, armour, and profession tools of uncommon quality or better. Alt 1 disenchants the selected item.

• Ctrl + Enter

  Sell, attach, deposit, pick up, equip, use, or open — whichever fits the window you have open alongside your bags.

• Ctrl + Space

  Read the full tooltip, plus how many you own across your bags, bank, other characters, and the warband bank.

• Ctrl + Right / Left

  Choose an action bar slot, then press Ctrl + Enter to place the item there.

The Mail module

The mailbox has two tabs, and Ctrl + Tab switches between them: the Inbox, where you read mail and take what's inside, and the Send tab (Enviar), where you compose a new letter. The module tells you which tab you're on, and the keys adapt to it.

Reading the inbox

Ctrl + Down and Ctrl + Up move through your messages, reading sender and subject, turning pages automatically when needed. Ctrl + Right opens the message you're on and then steps through its contents — each attachment, any money, and finally the delete or return option. Ctrl + Enter takes whatever you're on: the attachment, the money, or the whole letter. To empty the mailbox in one go, press Alt + 1 to collect all mail.

Editing fields on the Send tab

When you switch to the Send tab, the game tries to drop your cursor straight into the recipient box. KeyboardUINext deliberately refuses that, because if it didn't, every key you pressed would type a letter instead of controlling the addon. So on the Send tab your keys stay in charge, and you enter a field only when you ask to.

While you're in a field, typing works normally and Tab moves to the next one. When you're done, Enter (in the recipient or subject) or Escape (in any field) hands control back to the addon so the other keys work again. At any point, Ctrl + Space reads back the whole letter: recipient, subject, attachment count, and money.

Sending mail step by step

A complete letter with an attached item and some gold looks like this:

   Open the mailbox and press Ctrl + Tab to reach the Send tab.

   Press Alt + 4, type the character's name, press Enter.

3. 3  ·  Subject

   Press Alt + 5, type the subject, press Enter.

   Press Alt + 6, type the body, press Escape when done (the message box treats Enter as a new line).

5. 5  ·  Attach an item

   Open your bags, navigate to the item, and press Ctrl + Enter — with the mailbox open it attaches to the letter. Repeat for more items, then close the bags.

6. 6  ·  Attach money (optional)

   Press Alt + 2 to choose Send Money; it confirms the mode. Press Alt + 7, type the gold amount, Tab for silver and copper, then Enter.

7. 7  ·  Review & send

   Press Ctrl + Space to hear the whole letter, then Alt + 1 to send.

Mail shortcuts

Pressing Alt + Space reads the shortcuts for whichever tab you're on. Some keys mean different things on each tab.

Both tabs

• Ctrl + Tab

  Switch between the Inbox and Send tabs.

• Ctrl + Space

  Read the focused message (inbox) or the full letter summary — recipient, subject, attachments, money (Send tab).

Inbox tab

• Ctrl + Down / Up

  Move through messages, reading sender and subject; pages turn automatically.

• Ctrl + Right / Left

  Open the current message and step through its attachments, money, and delete or return option.

• Ctrl + Enter

  Take the focused attachment or money, or act on the whole message.

• Alt + 1

  Collect all mail — money and items from every message.

Send tab

• Alt + 1

  Send the letter.

• Alt + 2

  Choose Send Money, and hear the selected mode and current amount.

• Alt + 3

  Choose Cash on Delivery — bill the recipient. Announces the mode.

• Alt + 4

  Edit the recipient.

• Alt + 5

  Edit the subject.

• Alt + 6

  Edit the message body.

• Alt + 7

  Edit the money amount; Tab moves gold → silver → copper.

• Enter / Escape

  Leave the current field and return control to the module. Enter commits the recipient and subject; use Escape to leave the message body.

• Ctrl + Down / Up

  Step through the bag items available to attach.

The Quest Log

Your quest log is organised in two levels: categories (zones, campaigns, world quests) and the quests inside them. Moving between those two levels is the whole trick.

Ctrl + Shift + Down and Up jump from one category to the next. Once you're on a category you want, Ctrl + Down steps into its quests and continues through them one at a time.

On any quest, Ctrl + Space reads its full state, and this is the key you'll use constantly: it says whether the quest is ready to turn in, then reads each objective with your progress, then how far away it is. Ctrl + Enter opens the quest's details, where the full text is read out; Alt + 5 takes you back to the list.

Tracking a whole category at once

While you're on a category rather than a single quest, Alt + 1 tracks every quest in it, or stops tracking them if they're all tracked already. The addon tells you which it did and how many quests it affected. If the objective tracker is full it says how many it couldn't add, rather than pretending they all worked.

Tracking and the rest

The numbered keys act on the quest you're on: Alt + 1 tracks or untracks it, Alt + 2 shares it with your group, Alt + 3 abandons it, and Alt + 4 focuses it so the game points you at it. Which of these are available depends on the quest — Alt+Space always tells you what applies right now.

Quest Log shortcuts

Alt + Space adapts to where you are — on a category it tells you how to step into the quests, on a quest it lists what you can do with it.

• Ctrl + Shift + Down / Up

  Move between categories. Control Shift Down and Up move between categories.

• Ctrl + Down / Up

  Step through the quests inside a category, and through a quest's objectives. Control Down enters the quests in this category.

• Ctrl + Space

  Read the quest's full state: whether it's ready to turn in, each objective and your progress, and the distance. Control Space reads the quest state and objectives.

• Ctrl + Enter

  Open the quest's details. On a world quest, sets a TomTom arrow instead. Control Enter opens the quest details.

• Alt + 1 (on a category)

  Track every quest in the category, or stop tracking them all. Not offered on the World Quests group. Alt 1 tracks or untracks every quest in this category.

• Alt + 1 (on a quest)

  Track or untrack the quest. On a world quest, sets a TomTom arrow.

• Alt + 2

  Share the quest with your group, when that's possible. On a world quest, focus it.

• Alt + 3

  Abandon the quest, when it can be abandoned.

• Alt + 4

  Focus the quest so the game points you toward it; press again to stop focusing.

• Alt + 5

  In the details view, return to the quest list. In the list, set a TomTom waypoint. Alt 5 returns to the quest list.

Vendors

A vendor window has three tabs, cycled with Ctrl + Tab: buy, sell, and buyback for something you sold by mistake.

On the buy tab, Ctrl + Down and Up walk the vendor's stock, reading name and price. Ctrl + Enter buys the item you're on. To buy several at once, either cycle the preset amounts with Ctrl + Right and Left, or press Ctrl + F and type an exact number, then Enter.

Selling works from your bags rather than the vendor list: with the vendor open, open your bags, land on the item and press Ctrl + Enter. The addon says what it sold and for how much. Items with no vendor value say so instead of failing quietly.

• Ctrl + Tab

  Cycle buy → sell → buyback. Control Tab switches between buy, sell and buyback.

• Ctrl + Enter

  Buy the item, sell the focused bag item, or buy it back — whichever tab you're on.

• Ctrl + F

  Type an exact quantity to buy. Control F sets how many to buy.

• Ctrl + Right / Left

  Cycle the preset quantities (1, 5, a full stack, and so on).

The Auction House

Three tabs, again with Ctrl + Tab: buy, sell, and your auctions.

Finding something to buy

The buy tab has two side-by-side lists — the categories on the left and the results on the right — and Ctrl + Right and Left move between them. Within whichever list you're in, Ctrl + Down and Up navigate, and Ctrl + Enter opens a category or buys a result. Usually it's faster to skip the categories: press Ctrl + F, type what you want, and press Enter. Ctrl + R opens the filters, where Ctrl + Enter toggles the one you're on.

Confirming a purchase

Choosing a result opens a confirmation dialog, and there are two kinds. For a commodity (reagents, potions — anything sold in stacks), Ctrl + F sets how many you want and Ctrl + Right and Left nudge the amount. For a single item (a piece of gear), Ctrl + Right and Left move between Buy and Cancel. Either way, Ctrl + Enter confirms, and Alt + Space tells you which dialog you're in.

Selling

On the sell tab, Ctrl + Down and Up step through the fields — the item, quantity, price, duration — and Ctrl + Enter either edits the field you're on or, on the last one, posts the auction. Duration is a dropdown, so it cycles with Ctrl + Right and Left instead.
