Using Optifine
==============

Optifine without any shaders seems to work fine.

Note that [Enhanced Visuals](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/enhancedvisuals) has the following to say
about its own visual effects with Optifine:

> In order to use EnhancedVisuals alongside Optifine, Fast Render, Anisotropic Filtering and Antialiasing has to be
> turned off. Otherwise your screen will turn black when certain effects are active.

Note that you can still apply anti-aliasing via shaders if you use a shader pack.

Shaders
-------

If you want to use shaders, then you have to turn off Astral Sorcery's "skybox" effects. You can do this by copying
`foroptifine/astralsorcery-client.toml` over into the `config` directory (replacing it if it already exists).

Sometimes, switching shaders in-game will cause Optifine to reload resources/textures. However, this may cause a crash
related to Immersive Engineering. If you restart Minecraft after doing this, your selected shader should be loaded. If
you want to try out a variety of shaders, you should try them in a minimal Minecraft+Optifine install first to avoid the
long loading times.
