Where's My Buff

Raid leaders know the drill: someone is always missing Power Word: Fortitude, and nobody notices until the pull timer hits zero. Where's My Buff is a lightweight World of Warcraft addon that solves this quietly. Instead of tracking every player and every aura in a giant grid, it watches the buffs your group can actually provide and shows an icon only when at least one member is missing one. No spreadsheets, no counters, no clutter.

How Where's My Buff Works

The addon reads your party or raid composition and checks which buff-providing classes are present. If a class is in your group, its buff goes on the watch list. If even a single group member lacks that buff, the icon appears. One missing player is enough. The moment everyone is covered, the icon disappears on its own.

This class-aware approach is what separates Where's My Buff from older buff checkers. You never see rows for buffs nobody in your group can cast, so the window stays small and readable even in a 30-player raid.

Supported Buffs

  • Priest: Power Word: Fortitude
  • Mage: Arcane Intellect
  • Warrior: Battle Shout
  • Druid: Mark of the Wild
  • Evoker: Blessing of the Bronze
  • Shaman: Skyfury

Click-to-Whisper

Hovering an icon shows the buff's name. Clicking it sends a whisper to every matching online, living class member who can provide that buff, excluding yourself. You can write your own message using the {buff} placeholder, for example: "Could you please cast {buff}? Thanks!" Whispers are sent only when you click, with a 10-second repeat limit per buff, so you will not spam anyone.

Commands and Customization

The window appears automatically when you join a party or raid. Right-click its background or type /wmb options to configure your whisper text. The command list is short and easy to remember:

  • /wmb show and /wmb hide toggle the window
  • /wmb lock toggles position lock
  • /wmb scale 1.2 adjusts window size
  • /wmb personal checks only your own buffs
  • /wmb group checks the whole group
  • /wmb solo toggles visibility while solo
  • /wmb reset restores position and scale

If you would rather skip manual setup entirely, the foxygame.net launcher installs Where's My Buff in a single click and keeps it updated automatically, so your buff tracking never breaks after a patch.

Version Compatibility and Installation

Where's My Buff for World of Warcraft supports Retail, Classic, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria. Buff availability differs between expansions, and the addon adapts its checks accordingly, so a Classic character sees the buffs that actually exist in that version of the game. It is also built with Midnight's aura restrictions in mind: unreadable buff data is treated as unknown rather than incorrectly reported as missing, and offline or non-visible members simply cannot be fully checked. Dead and ghost members are skipped.

How to Install

If you want to download Where's My Buff manually, the process takes under a minute:

  • Close World of Warcraft completely.
  • Place the extracted Where's My Buff folder into your Interface/AddOns directory for the correct game version.
  • Restart the game and confirm the addon appears in the AddOns list at character select.

Keep in mind that WoW's chat restrictions may temporarily prevent whispers from being sent, especially on fresh accounts, but the visual tracking itself always works.

Why Groups Keep It Installed

Where's My Buff does one job and does it without noise. It requires no external libraries, uses almost no memory, and never forces you to scan a player list. For raid leaders, it turns buff maintenance into a single glance. For casual players, it is a polite reminder system that asks for what is missing instead of nagging the whole group.

If your raid keeps pulling without Fortitude, Arcane Intellect, or Battle Shout, this addon is the quiet fix. Install it once, set your whisper message, and let the icons tell you when something is actually missing.
