Welcome Keystone
If you lead Mythic+ groups in World of Warcraft, you know the drill: the group fills, and then you scramble to link your keystone, type a greeting, and hope everyone checks the affixes. It is clunky, slow, and leaves room for confusion. Welcome Keystone changes that. This lightweight addon turns a single command into a polished host card that welcomes your party by name, posts your clickable keystone, and lists the relevant affixes in a clean, scannable format. It is built for Midnight Season 2 pugs and premades, and it makes you look like the organized leader every group wants.
What Welcome Keystone Does
After your group fills, type /wk or /welcomekey. The addon scans your bags for your current Mythic+ keystone and sends a two-line host card to party, instance, or raid chat. The first line greets the players who actually joined. The second line posts your clickable keystone link, complete with dungeon and level. Hovering that link shows the full affix tooltip. Below that, the addon prints the key's affixes as short, marked labels like Fort, Tyrann, Ascendant, or Guile, so everyone knows what they are walking into. It even adds a one-liner quip unique to each Midnight Season 2 dungeon, plus any house rule you have saved, such as "wait for the tank pull."
Why It Is Not Another !keys Addon
Most Mythic+ key announcers wait for someone to type !key or !keys and then dump a bare link. Welcome Keystone is different. It is designed for the group leader who is actively forming the key. It greets the party by name, posts your bag keystone as a real link, lists Fort, Tyrann, Bargain, and Guile in a readable line, and adds a unique quip for each dungeon. It can also attach a house rule you save once. Use it alongside AstralKeys, MiniMythicKeys, or Details. Those tools track keys; this one hosts the invite.
Commands and Customization
Getting started is simple. The main command is /wk or /welcomekey, which sends the host card to party, instance, or raid chat. Use /wk test to preview the card locally without sending anything. Save a house rule with /wk rule wait for the tank pull, show it with /wk rule, and clear it with /wk rule clear. The /wk help command lists everything. There is no default keybind, but you can make a macro containing /wk and bind that to any key you like.
Affix Logic and Readability
Welcome Keystone reads affixes directly from the keystone item link in your bags first. If the link has no affix IDs, it falls back to this week's affixes and keeps only the ones that apply at that key level. For example, +2 to +5 shows Lindormi's Guidance, +5 to +11 shows the current Xal'atath's Bargain, +7 to +9 shows Fortified or Tyrannical, +10 and up shows both, and +12 and up replaces the Bargain with Xal'atath's Guile. Chat labels stay short and clean: Fort, Tyrann, Ascendant, Pulsar, Voidbound, Devour, Guile, Guidance. Each label is tagged with a raid marker, and the keystone link itself remains hoverable for the official tooltip.
When you are ready to try it, you can download Welcome Keystone from popular addon sites or use the foxygame.net launcher, which offers a one-click install for Welcome Keystone for World of Warcraft and keeps it updated automatically across Retail, Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP versions. The launcher's addon catalog also checks version compatibility before you install, so you never have to worry about a broken update.
Midnight Season 2 Dungeon Quips
Each dungeon in the current Mythic+ pool gets its own line. Altar of Fangs says, "The altar wants an offering. Try not to be it." Murder Row warns, "Silvermoon's alley does not take polite refusals." Den of Nalorakk notes, "The bear god is not here for a handshake." The Blinding Vale advises, "If it starts glowing, stop staring and start moving." Voidscar Arena reminds you, "The crowd came for a show. Don't become the show." Kings' Rest says, "The dead kings still take attendance." Temple of Sethraliss comments, "The temple has opinions about where you stand." Ruby Life Pools observes, "The water is pretty. The fire is not a suggestion." Unknown dungeons still get a short generic closer, so the card never goes silent.
Chat Channels and Installation
The addon sends the host card to party chat in a normal group, instance chat for dungeon finder or premade instance groups, and raid chat if you convert. If you are not in a group, /wk prints a local preview instead of sending an empty message. It is lightweight and Midnight-ready, with no libraries, no extra folders, and no options panel. It uses C_Container, C_Item.IsItemKeystoneByID, C_MythicPlus, and C_ChallengeMode, and supports interface versions for Midnight 12.0 and 12.1, plus Standard and Mainline TOC flavors. It does not hook combat, unit auras, or nameplates.
How to Install Welcome Keystone
Learning how to install is straightforward. Use the CurseForge app, or unzip the folder into World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\WelcomeKeystone. The folder must contain WelcomeKeystone.toc and WelcomeKeystone.lua. Fully quit World of Warcraft, then enable Welcome Keystone on the character-select AddOns screen. Log in, and chat should print "WelcomeKeystone: Loaded." Type /wk test before your first real announce to see the card in action.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it reply to !keys? No. Welcome Keystone is a host command, not a chat bot. Keep MiniMythicKeys or AstralKeys if you want automatic !keys replies. Can affixes be separate clickable tooltips? No. Party chat only allows official link types. The keystone link on line 1 already includes affix data, so hover that. Line 2 is the scannable short list. Does it announce when someone joins? No. You choose when to send it, which keeps pug chat from getting spammed. Will it work without a keystone in bags? It tells you no key was found and sends nothing.
Welcome Keystone is the host card your Mythic+ groups have been missing. It is fast, clean, and built specifically for the way group leaders actually work. Stop linking a bare key. Start hosting the run. Download Welcome Keystone today and make every pull start on the right foot.
