SlashikFlying
Skyriding changed how travel works in World of Warcraft, but the default interface still buries your vigor and speed information in awkward corners of the screen. SlashikFlying fixes that with a lightweight, standalone flying HUD that keeps every resource you care about in one compact display. Inspired by EllesmereUI's Skyriding layout, it runs entirely on its own and does not require EllesmereUI or any other addon to function.
What the Flying HUD Shows You
The display appears automatically the moment you mount a Skyriding-capable mount with Skyriding enabled, even while you are still standing on the ground, and it hides again when you dismount or switch to steady flight. Everything updates only while visible, so it stays efficient during long play sessions.
- Vigor: your available vigor plus recharge progress
- Second Wind: three purple segments showing charges and their recharge
- Flight speed: a bar and percentage relative to normal running speed
- Whirling Surge: an ability icon with its cooldown
Two visual themes ship with the addon. Compact is the default, using flat bars with blue-gray vigor segments and a tight speed readout. Blizzard uses native vigor circles, textured bars, and traditional framing for players who want the HUD to match the rest of the default UI. You can switch instantly with /sf theme compact or /sf theme blizzard, and no reload is needed.
World-Map Player Highlight
Finding your character arrow on a crowded world map is a small but constant annoyance, and SlashikFlying solves it with a colored ring, a dark outline, and a brief opening pulse. The highlight uses Blizzard's native player-position renderer, keeps your arrow's direction visible, and lets map clicks pass straight through. It works whether you are mounted or not, completely independently of the flying HUD, and it stops updating the moment you close the map or disable the feature.
Layout, Themes, and Persistence
Positioning the display takes seconds. Type /sf unlock to show a draggable preview, move it wherever you like, then type /sf lock to return to automatic visibility. Width and scale are adjustable per theme, with each theme remembering its own width while position and scale are shared. Your settings persist across sessions and are shared across all your characters, so you never have to reconfigure anything after logging in.
If you would rather keep your screen clean during fights, optional combat hiding automatically removes the flying display while you are in combat. The full command list is available through /sf or /slashikflying, covering everything from /sf width 240 and /sf scale 1 to map ring size, color, and pulse toggles.
Compatibility Across World of Warcraft Versions
SlashikFlying is built for World of Warcraft Retail, where Skyriding is a core movement system, and it slots neatly into any addon setup without conflicts. Players running Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP should check the current addon compatibility notes before installing, since those clients handle flight differently and the flying HUD depends on Skyriding mechanics that only exist in modern Retail builds. If you play across multiple versions, keep separate addon folders so each client loads the correct files.
How to Install and Get Started
To download SlashikFlying, grab the latest package from your preferred addon source, then follow the standard how to install routine: extract the folder into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory, restart the client, and confirm the addon is enabled on the character select screen. If you prefer a smoother path, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process in a single click, pulling SlashikFlying straight from its addon catalog and keeping it updated automatically so version compatibility never becomes your problem.
Once installed, mount up with Skyriding enabled, type /sf unlock, and drag the HUD to a spot that suits your UI. Try /sf theme blizzard for the alternative look, then open your world map to see the player highlight in action. Defaults are sensible: Compact theme, bar width 240 for Compact and 200 for Blizzard, scale 1, combat hiding off, and map highlighting on with a cyan ring at size 36 and the opening pulse enabled.
Remember that SlashikFlying is a status display, not an action bar. You still cast your flying abilities through your existing buttons and keybindings, and the addon simply tells you what is ready, how much vigor remains, and how fast you are actually moving. For anyone who spends serious time in the skies of Azeroth, it is one of the cleanest quality-of-life upgrades you can add.
