RocketMeter
If you have spent any time raiding or pushing Mythic+ keys, you know that a good damage meter is not optional. It is how you spot problems, celebrate big pulls, and figure out who actually interrupted the boss. RocketMeter is a clean damage meter for World of Warcraft that takes a different approach than the meters you may be used to, and once you try it, going back feels strange.
What Makes RocketMeter Different
In modern World of Warcraft, Blizzard removed the combat log event that older meters used to parse and replaced it with the official C_DamageMeter API. Every addon now reads the same data source, so the raw numbers are identical across meters. What separates them is presentation and setup. RocketMeter is built around one simple idea: one window, many columns.
Instead of juggling a second window for healing and a third for interrupts, every metric is a column you switch on or off, all sitting side by side. The window uses the same header art as Blizzard's built-in meter, with flat class-colored rows and no skin to configure. It also sizes itself to your group, showing one row when you are solo and five rows in a five-player group, so you never stare at empty slots waiting for players to join.
Columns, Sorting, and Presets
RocketMeter gives you a deep set of columns to choose from, and you can pick any combination that suits your role:
- Dmg, DPS, and Dmg% for total damage, damage per second, and share of group damage
- Heal, HPS, and Heal% for healing throughput and contribution
- Absorb for absorbs, Taken and TPS for damage taken
- Avoid for avoidable damage, Interr for interrupts, Dispel for dispels, and Deaths for player deaths
- Enemies for damage done to enemy targets
Total and per-second values are separate columns, so you can run DPS alone if you only care about throughput, or combine total and DPS for a fuller picture. Presets switch every column with a single click, and the built-in Mythic+, Raid, and Damage only presets cover most situations. Sorting is just as quick: click a column header to sort by it, click again to reverse the order, Shift+click to move a column left, and Ctrl+click to move it right. The column panel behind the gear icon lists every metric with a checkbox and reorder arrows, and changes appear instantly with no Apply button.
Current Fight, Overall, and Spell Breakdown
The header shows which session is on screen, Current fight or Overall, and clicking it switches between them. By default the window follows combat, showing the current fight while you are fighting and returning to Overall when combat ends, though you can turn that behavior off. Clicking a player's row opens a spell breakdown panel with icon, total, per-second value, and percentage for each ability, split into Damage, Healing (including absorbs), and Control sections for interrupts and dispels. It stays open while you read, which is far more convenient than a vanishing tooltip.
When a Mythic+ key ends, an end-of-run scoreboard opens with the whole group and every metric at once, including item level, Mythic+ score, loot, and each player's new keystone. It waits for the chest, then opens when you close the loot window and keeps updating for two minutes for late looters. Raid mode uses the encounter that just ended. You can reopen it any time with /rm score.
Game Versions and Compatibility
RocketMeter for World of Warcraft is designed around the modern API, so Retail is where it shines brightest, including the Midnight era of combat data changes. The addon community also keeps an eye on Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP servers, and compatibility across those versions depends on which APIs each client exposes. Always check the current build notes before you install on a progression realm.
If you want the simplest path, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process for you, placing RocketMeter in the right folder and keeping it updated automatically whenever a new patch drops. That saves you from manually chasing addon versions after every content update. Otherwise, you can download RocketMeter from the usual addon sites and follow the standard how to install steps: drop the folder into your Interface/AddOns directory and restart the game.
Commands and Customization
Commands are always in English regardless of your client language, so a command copied from a guide works anywhere. Use /rm to open or close the window, /rm columns for the column panel, /rm preset mplus, raid, or damage to switch layouts, /rm overall to toggle between current fight and overall, and /rm score to bring back the last scoreboard. Appearance options cover font, text size, outline, shadow, row count, column spacing, and total column width, all set separately for each kind of text. Out of combat, the top value in each column is highlighted, and you also get specialization icons, class colors, a resizable window, and lock or unlock control. Settings can be account-wide or per-character, and switching a character to its own settings starts with a copy of your current setup.
Final Thoughts
RocketMeter respects Blizzard's protected combat data rules rather than working around them. Out of combat you see every column for every player, in combat your own row shows everything, and other players show the sorted column while the rest fills in when combat ends. That is the API's design, and the addon follows it cleanly. With its tidy visuals, flexible columns, and thoughtful scoreboard, RocketMeter is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants their damage meter to look good and stay out of the way.
