Rematch EllesmereUI Skin (with Blank Window Fix)
If you run Rematch alongside EllesmereUI, you have probably noticed the two do not quite agree on how a window should look. Rematch brings its own styling, and EllesmereUI brings yours, and the result is a pet battle addon that sticks out of an otherwise seamless interface. This skin solves that, and it does one more thing that matters a great deal right now: it repairs the blank Rematch window that patch 12.1 introduced.
The idea behind Rematch EllesmereUI Skin (with Blank Window Fix) is simple. It does not impose a look of its own. It follows your EllesmereUI setup, reading your active profile fresh every time something is painted. Window colour, transparency, accent colour, font and border all come from EllesmereUI rather than from hardcoded values, so nothing needs importing and nothing needs keeping in sync.
What the Skin Actually Changes
Both of Rematch's homes are covered. The standalone window gets the full treatment: title bar, tabs, panels, lists, search boxes, buttons, cards, menus and tooltips, all in your EllesmereUI colours and transparency. Pet levels appear in a small round badge on the corner of each pet's icon, in lists, loadout slots and dialogs. Scroll bars are clean and centred, and buttons are flat with the EllesmereUI border.
The second home is the Pet Journal tab inside the Collections window. Here Rematch's own tabs are drawn to sit level with the Mounts, Toy Box and other Collections tabs beside them, so the whole row reads as one piece of interface rather than two addons sharing a frame.
Following Your Profile, Not Overriding It
Nothing is hardcoded and no profile gets special treatment. Window colour and transparency come from your Dark Mode fill, both colour and alpha. Accent colour drives selected tabs, checkmarks, sliders and selection borders. The UI font, the window border texture and size, and the window style all come from EllesmereUI's own options. A border size of zero means no border, exactly as you would expect. Popular imports such as atrocityUI or AES work out of the box for the same reason. Change any of those settings in EllesmereUI and Rematch changes with it, including when you switch profiles.
The 12.1 Blank Window, Explained
Patch 12.1 removed a small function Rematch relies on, and until Rematch itself is updated its window opens completely empty. This skin puts that function back, the same fix the standalone FixRematch addon provides, so you do not need both. If you already have FixRematch installed, the two get along fine. Once Rematch or the game supplies the function again, the fix switches itself off on its own.
There is a second cause that FixRematch does not cover. Inside a dungeon, delve, scenario or similar instance, the game refuses to tell addons the names of creatures. Rematch hit that refusal and gave up drawing its entire window, leaving you with a blank panel. With this skin the window opens and works normally in instances. The only visible quirk is that your loaded target, and the target shown on any team, reads "Unknown (npc id 12345)" instead of the creature's name. Leave the instance and the names return by themselves. Outside instances nothing changes at all.
Compatibility Across World of Warcraft Versions
The skin is written for Rematch 5.3.1 and EllesmereUI 9.1.8, and it works on EllesmereUI 8.6.6 and newer. That covers the modern Retail client where EllesmereUI is most at home, and the same skinning approach travels comfortably to Classic, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria setups where Rematch and EllesmereUI are both present. With EllesmereUI's Blizzard Skin module running, the addon appears in EllesmereUI's own Third-Party Addons list. Without it, it works identically on its own. Either way the look is the same and you do not need to configure anything.
If you prefer not to juggle manual installs, the foxygame.net launcher handles this one cleanly: search its addon catalog, and Rematch EllesmereUI Skin (with Blank Window Fix) installs in a single click and keeps itself current as new Rematch builds land.
How to Install
- Make sure both Rematch and EllesmereUI are installed and enabled. This addon contains no part of either, and if you are not running both it quietly does nothing.
- Download Rematch EllesmereUI Skin (with Blank Window Fix) and place the folder in your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory.
- Restart the client or reload your UI, then open Rematch to confirm the new look.
- Options live under Game Menu, Options, AddOns, Rematch EllesmereUI Skin. Most people never need them, since the defaults follow EllesmereUI.
If something looks wrong, type /rmeuiskin in chat. It prints what the skin did, which versions of Rematch and EllesmereUI you have, whether the 12.1 fix was needed, and how many creature names the game hid this session. The commands /rmeuiskin behind and /rmeuiskin tabs dig into Pet Journal layering and tab alignment respectively, and both are the fastest way to tell a skin bug apart from a Blizzard or EllesmereUI change.
Final Thoughts
Rematch EllesmereUI Skin (with Blank Window Fix) is a focused piece of work. It skins Rematch to match your interface, restores the function patch 12.1 removed, and keeps working inside instances where the standalone fix cannot help. Rematch itself is untouched, so the skin only changes how things look, never what they do. If you also run MountsJournal, the author's matching skin for that addon is built on the same foundation, which means your two Collections tabs line up with each other as neatly as they line up with the rest of your UI.
