PUG Q&A
Every raider knows the feeling. The group looks solid, the strategy was explained twice, and then someone stands in the wrong spot and the whole pull falls apart. PUG Q&A exists to close that gap before the boss ever gets pulled. It is a World of Warcraft addon that lets the raid leader quiz the raid with multiple-choice questions, then shows exactly who understood the mechanic, who got it wrong, and who never answered at all.
What PUG Q&A Actually Does
The core idea is simple: ask before you pull. A raid leader writes a question, marks the correct answer, and sends it to the raid. Each player receives a popup with a timer and the ready-check sound, answering by clicking or pressing 1 through 4. Raiders who do not have the addon still get the question through a whisper and reply with a number, so nobody is left out of the check.
Once the timer runs out, the Results tab tells the full story: right answers, wrong answers, and no-answers for every player, plus session totals. If the same mistake keeps showing up, you know exactly where to focus your explanation.
Targeting the Right Players
Not every mechanic applies to everyone, and PUG Q&A respects that. Questions can go to the whole raid, specific groups, odd or even groups, individual players, or by role. Send "move out of melee" only to melee, and "spread 8 yards" only to ranged. Raiders with the addon report their own role from their spec, while everyone else is guessed from class.
Follow-Up and Re-Asking
Anyone who answers incorrectly gets whispered the right answer and asked to reply 1 (understood) or 2 (still confused). The leader is told who still does not understand, and an optional one-line explanation can be attached to any question so it arrives instantly. The addon can also automatically re-ask anyone who missed until everyone gets it right.
Compatibility Across World of Warcraft Versions
PUG Q&A is built for the versions players actually raid in. It supports Retail, Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP, with addon compatibility handled per client. A few small differences exist, such as Korean and Chinese clients using WoW's own font because the bundled Inter font does not include those characters. Otherwise the experience is consistent wherever you play.
If you want a friction-free setup, the foxygame.net launcher installs PUG Q&A in a single click and keeps it updated automatically, so your raid tools never fall behind a game patch.
Trivia Breaks Keep the Raid Awake
Long raid nights have downtime, and PUG Q&A fills it. Pick 2, 5, or 10 minutes on the Trivia tab and the addon runs back-to-back WoW lore questions, with the first correct answer taking the point. There are 125 questions spanning Classic through The War Within: cinematics, zones, warchiefs and kings, dungeons, races, titles, professions, and origin stories.
Answers unlock after two seconds, so actually knowing the lore beats mashing buttons. A wrong answer locks you out of that question, and points last the whole raid. Raid chat only gets three messages per break: the start, a one-minute warning, and the winner. A pull ends the break, so the trivia never delays the actual fight.
How to Install PUG Q&A
- Download PUG Q&A from your preferred addon source.
- Place the extracted folder inside your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory.
- Restart the game or type /reload to load the addon.
- Open the window with /pugqa or /pqa, or click the minimap button.
The command list is short and memorable. /pugqa send fires the checked questions, /pugqa stop cancels a running check, /pugqa test previews a question only you can see, /pugqa results opens the Results tab, and /pugqa trivia 2|5|10 starts a break. Settings live under Check settings, covering answer time, what happens when a check ends, chat announcements, whisper behavior, and font choice.
Why Raid Leaders Keep It Loaded
Only the raid leader can send checks, so random players cannot spam the raid with popups. Checks are combat-safe: they wait until the whole raid is out of combat and pause during boss fights. Players who are offline, AFK, or outside the instance are skipped and dimmed in the raid list, then receive questions again the moment they return. Raiders also stay in control, hiding checks from a specific leader with one click and restoring them later with /pugqa unmute.
For anyone running pick-up groups, the value is obvious. Download PUG Q&A for World of Warcraft, spend thirty seconds checking that everyone knows the mechanic, and stop losing pulls to silence in voice chat.
