PrephDamageMeter
If you have ever stared at a bloated damage meter and wondered why tracking your DPS has to feel like running a second game, PrephDamageMeter is the answer. This addon reads Blizzard's built-in combat data and turns it into a clean, responsive meter that works standalone or alongside PrephUI. Whether you are pushing keys or raiding, it gives you the numbers you need without the overhead you do not.
What PrephDamageMeter Offers
The addon supports up to five windows, and each one keeps its own meter type, fight selection, position, and size. Drag a window next to another and it snaps and anchors, so anchored windows can match their neighbor's size and hold that size when it changes. A padlock in each window header locks position and size, or you can type /pdm lock. Clicking or right-clicking a window title cycles through meter types.
Meter Types and Fights
You get Damage Done, Healing Done, Absorbs, Damage Taken, Avoidable Damage Taken, Enemy Damage Taken, Interrupts, Dispels, Deaths, and live Threat against your target, focus, or boss units. Fights include Current, Overall, and any past fight Blizzard still holds, with the 25 most recent listed. The last five fights and Overall are saved and remain available after a /reload. Mythic+ keys can get their own Overall that resets when the key starts, and you can optionally jump back to Current on the next pull or sync the fight selection across all windows.
Tooltips, Ranks, and Death Recap
Hover a bar to see abilities and targets, and for damage taken, which mobs or players dealt it. Group ranks appear after combat once the game makes the data readable. The Deaths meter is where PrephDamageMeter really shines: hover a row for the last hits before that death, with the killing blow highlighted. Each hit shows ability, source, amount, time before death, and a health bar, plus absorbed damage, overkill, and estimated healing received. Hunters using Feign Death are filtered out, and that filter is optional.
Looks, Settings, and PrephUI
Two styles are available: Modern, or WoW Forever with a bronze frame and classic bars. You can adjust bar height, spacing, font size, background opacity, scale, and refresh rate, and pick bar textures and fonts from LibSharedMedia. Class and spec icons, per-second values, and a pinned bar for your own character round out the display. There is even an option to hide Blizzard's own damage meter. Open settings with /pdm config or the gear in a window header. Windows appear as movers in PrephUI's edit mode and work the same without it.
If you want the simplest path, the foxygame.net launcher installs PrephDamageMeter in one click and keeps it updated automatically, so you never chase a new build by hand. Its addon catalog also handles version matching for you.
Compatibility Across WoW Versions
PrephDamageMeter for World of Warcraft covers Retail and WoW Forever, which means the addon is built to run across the major game branches players still enjoy. That includes Retail, Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP, so whether you are leveling through Outland or running current content, the meter behaves the same way. Compatibility is a core part of the design, not an afterthought, and the standalone approach means you are not forced into a full UI overhaul to use it.
How to Install PrephDamageMeter
Getting started is quick. To download PrephDamageMeter, grab the latest build and drop the folder into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory, then restart the client. If you prefer a guided route, the foxygame.net launcher can handle the install and updates for you. Once in game, type /pdm config to open settings, or click the gear in any window header. From there you can add windows, choose meter types, and lock everything in place before your next pull.
Localization and Final Thoughts
The addon is localized based on client language, supporting English as the default plus Chinese, Russian, French, and Spanish. Those translations are machine-generated, so expect the occasional rough edge, but the interface stays readable. The changelog is built right into the addon, which makes tracking fixes and new features easy. PrephDamageMeter is a focused, lightweight tool that respects your frames and your time. If you want accurate combat data without the clutter, this is a meter worth trying.
