PortalJockey
Every World of Warcraft player knows the feeling: you’re in the middle of a questing session, and you need to get to a specific dungeon or hub. You open your bags, dig through your toys, and try to remember which hearthstone goes where. It’s a clunky process that breaks your flow. PortalJockey solves this by bringing every travel option your character owns into one clean, searchable menu. Whether you’re a mage juggling portals or a warrior relying on engineering wormholes, this addon makes getting from point A to point B effortless.
What Does PortalJockey Do?
PortalJockey for World of Warcraft aggregates your character’s travel abilities into a single panel. You can open it via an animated portal on your screen, a minimap button, or the /pj command. Once open, you see a list of destinations. Click one, and the addon uses the travel ability or item you already have—no new spells, no fake teleports. It’s about convenience, not cheating.
The addon was created by Pickme from Illidan and is built for World of Warcraft Retail. It supports the latest version, 12.1.0, and works seamlessly with the modern game client. While Classic clients are not supported by this release, Retail players on the current expansion will find it fully functional.
All Your Travel Options in One Place
PortalJockey doesn’t just handle your standard Hearthstone. It covers a wide range of travel methods, including:
- Hearthstone toys and the ordinary Hearthstone, plus Dalaran and Garrison Hearthstones.
- Mage teleports and portals.
- Engineering wormholes and transporters.
- Other supported class or racial travel abilities.
- Learned dungeon and raid teleports, with each entry showing its expansion and zone.
- Travel equipment such as Kirin Tor rings and guild cloaks.
- Supported travel toys and consumables.
- Personal Key to the Arcantina and housing Travel to Plot, with return travel when available.
This means old dungeon portals become useful again for farming runs. You can see at a glance which expansion a portal belongs to, making it easy to pick the right one for your weekly transmog or mount runs.
Smart Categories and Filters
The addon’s categories adapt to your character’s class, race, faction, profession, and available options. PortalJockey uses a maintained catalog and discovers known travel spells from supported spellbook flyouts. This ensures the menu always reflects what your character can actually use.
Search and Favorites
You can search by name, destination, dungeon zone, expansion, or acquisition source. Star your favorites and manually arrange your travel options for quick access. Save dungeon expansion filters and pin your preferred expansion first—Midnight is the default. Use the “Ready now” filter to focus on usable travel, or “Show unavailable” to inspect owned options with unmet requirements. If you want to plan ahead, enable “Show unlearned” to browse applicable collection goals, see where to obtain them, and bookmark them for later. These entries are informational until you actually learn or obtain them.
Customize the Look and Feel
PortalJockey fits your UI. Choose from Void, Holy, Poison, Arcane, Fel, or Warlock portal styles for the on-screen portal. Adjust its size and opacity, lock its position, or hide it entirely. The travel window itself is draggable and resizable, and you can adjust its scale. The header features an animated Void portal and rotating travel taglines each time you open the panel.
Layout and organization settings save in your active profile. The default profile is shared across characters, but you can open Options > Profiles for character-specific profiles, named profiles, and independent copies with backups. Old character setups are preserved and imported as each character logs in after upgrading. EllesmereUI styling is supported when installed, but PortalJockey works perfectly on its own.
How to Install and Get Started
Learning how to install is straightforward. Download PortalJockey from a trusted addon manager or the CurseForge project page. Extract the folder into your Interface/AddOns directory, then restart World of Warcraft. The addon will be ready to use immediately. For those who prefer a more streamlined approach, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install for PortalJockey, pulling the latest version directly into your addon folder without manual extraction. The launcher’s addon catalog also tracks version compatibility, so you’ll know if a new game patch requires an update.
Once installed, open the menu with /pj, the screen portal, or the minimap icon. Click a destination to use its normal in-game travel action. Shift-drag the screen portal to move it. Drag the menu header to reposition the window, and use its bottom-right corner to resize it. Right-click either launcher, click Options, or use /pj options to customize the addon. The panel disappears immediately after you click a travel action, leaving hearthstone and teleport animations visible. Closing the menu clears your search, but favorites, ordering, and saved filters remain.
Important Considerations
Travel remains subject to the game’s cooldowns, unlocks, profession requirements, and location restrictions. The menu closes during combat and can be reopened afterward. Multi-step wormholes, portals, and summoning abilities retain their normal in-game interactions. Travel equipment may need to be equipped first—the equip click also closes the panel. Wait for its equip cooldown, reopen the menu, then click again to travel. Consumables use an item or charge. PortalJockey does not grant unearned teleports or automatically travel for you.
Compatibility and Feedback
PortalJockey is compatible with Retail 12.1.0, and Classic clients are not supported by this release. Embedded libraries are included, and EllesmereUI is optional. If you encounter a bug, please report it in the project’s CurseForge comments. Include your PortalJockey version, game version, class, the affected travel option, and steps to reproduce. If you receive a Lua error, include the error text without personal account information. The project logo is original AI-generated branding artwork, not an in-game screenshot. The animated portal styles inside WoW use assets already included with the game.
PortalJockey is more than a convenience—it’s a quality-of-life upgrade that respects your time. By consolidating every travel method into one intuitive panel, it lets you focus on the adventure rather than the logistics. Download PortalJockey today and see how much smoother your journeys can be.
