OPieExtraConditions
If you have ever built a sprawling OPie ring with dozens of slices, you already know the problem: the ring gets crowded, and half the buttons do not apply to your current situation. Maybe you are in a capital city and a Dragonriding mount slice is useless. Maybe you are on an old continent and a flying-only option makes no sense. OPieExtraConditions solves that by adding new visibility conditions to OPie, so slices appear only when they are actually relevant to where you are and what you have unlocked.
This lightweight addon is a companion plugin for OPie, the popular radial action bar replacement. It does not replace OPie or change its interface. Instead, it quietly expands the condition system that OPie already uses, giving you more precise control over when each slice of your ring shows up.
What OPieExtraConditions Actually Does
OPie visibility conditions have always supported the standard macro conditionals plus OPie's own extended set. OPieExtraConditions builds on that foundation by introducing three new condition types that OPie can read when deciding whether to display a slice.
The [map] Condition
The [map] condition checks whether the player is standing on a given map or any of its submaps. For example, [map:dragon isles] activates if you are anywhere within the Dragon Isles, including the city of Valdrakken. The inverse, [nomap:whatever], works exactly as you would expect, hiding a slice when you are on that map. This is ideal for zone-specific utilities such as fishing pools, gathering routes, or quest hubs.
The [riding] Condition
The [riding] condition checks whether your character has learned any rank of the riding or flying skill. A bare [riding] triggers if you have any rank at all. You can also target a specific tier using values like apprentice, journeyman, expert, flying, or the numeric thresholds 60, 100, 150, and 310.
For instance, [riding:flying] activates once you have trained at least the Expert rank, meaning Expert or Master. As with every condition in this addon, the negated form [noriding] and [noriding:whatever] is available too.
The [dragonridable] Condition
The [dragonridable] condition checks whether Dragonriding mounts can be used in your current zone. That makes it perfect for keeping dynamic flight abilities, mount summons, and aerial shortcuts out of your ring in zones where they would fail. The negated [nodragonridable] variant is supported as well.
Why This Matters for Your UI
A radial menu is only as good as its context awareness. Without conditional visibility, you either memorize a dozen ring layouts or you scroll through slices you never use. With these conditions, one ring can adapt automatically:
- Show Dragonriding utilities only in the Dragon Isles and other dynamic flight zones.
- Hide ground-mount slices once you have unlocked flying.
- Swap in city-specific services only while you are inside a capital.
- Keep low-level alts from seeing slices tied to riding ranks they have not trained.
The result is a cleaner, faster ring that responds to your character's progression instead of forcing you to micromanage it.
Version Support and Compatibility
OPieExtraConditions was first released on 3 December 2022, which places its origins firmly in the Dragonflight era of Retail World of Warcraft, the same expansion that introduced Dragonriding. Because the addon relies on OPie's condition framework, it works wherever OPie itself is maintained.
Retail players get the fullest experience, since Dragonriding and its successors are part of the live client. Classic progression realms are a different story: on Classic Era, TBC, and WotLK, the [dragonridable] condition has nothing to detect, but [map] and [riding] remain genuinely useful for organizing flight paths, trainers, and zone-specific tools. Cataclysm Classic and MoP Classic sit in between, offering flying and rich map data without dynamic flight. In short, treat [dragonridable] as a Retail-only slice filter and the other two as broadly useful across every supported client.
How to Install OPieExtraConditions
Installation follows the standard World of Warcraft addon routine. First, confirm that OPie is already installed and working, because this plugin has no standalone function. Then place the OPieExtraConditions folder inside your Interface/AddOns directory, restart the client, and enable it from the AddOns list on the character selection screen. If you prefer a guided setup, the foxygame.net launcher can handle the entire process in a single click, and its built-in addon catalog also flags which World of Warcraft client versions OPieExtraConditions supports before you commit.
Once enabled, you do not need to configure anything inside the addon itself. Open your OPie ring settings, edit a slice, and type one of the new conditions into its visibility field. The ring updates immediately, so you can test [map:dragon isles] or [riding:flying] and watch slices appear and disappear as you move between zones or train new skills.
Final Thoughts
OPieExtraConditions is a small addon with a narrow purpose, and that is precisely its strength. It does not try to reinvent your interface; it simply gives OPie the context it was missing. If you want to download OPieExtraConditions and turn a static ring into one that understands where you are and what your character can do, this plugin delivers exactly that with almost no overhead. Pair it with a well-organized OPie layout, and your radial menus will finally feel like they were built for the character you are actually playing.
