New Openables - Continued: Streamline Your WoW Inventory

New Openables - Continued gives you one-click buttons for usable items in bags, plus quest item support, for World of Warcraft.

New Openables - Continued

Managing a packed inventory in World of Warcraft can feel like a second job. Between lockboxes, profession knowledge tokens, quest items, and reputation gains, you spend more time clicking through bags than actually playing. That is exactly the problem New Openables - Continued solves. This addon is the maintained continuation of the original New Openables project, kept alive by srhinos to support Dragonflight and beyond, and it remains one of the most practical quality-of-life tools for anyone who hates digging through bags mid-raid.

What New Openables - Continued Actually Does

At its core, the addon scans your bags for items you can use, open, learn, or combine, then places a single clickable button on your screen. Instead of hunting for that one lockbox or profession item, you simply click the button. The addon handles the rest and automatically moves on to the next usable item in your inventory.

The design philosophy is simple but effective. Buttons always stay in the same place, so muscle memory does the work. They are larger than standard action bar slots, making them easier to hit in a hurry. The most recently added or used item sits right where you expect it, and quest items even get their own hotkey.

Core Features at a Glance

  • Single button to combine, open, use, or lockpick items directly from your bags
  • Assignable hotkeys for keyboard shortcuts
  • Continuous bag scanning that advances to the next usable item automatically
  • Right-click to skip an item temporarily; skipped items return when nothing else is available
  • CTRL right-click to permanently blacklist an item
  • Clear the blacklist with the slash command "/nop clear" or through the Game Menu under Interface and AddOns
  • Remove a single blacklisted item with "/nop unlist itemID"
  • Quest item buttons generated for each quest item in your bags
  • Auto-accept and auto-turn-in for quests from the new Quest Tracker

Quest Item Support and the Quest Watch Frame

The quest item portion deserves special attention. For every quest item in your bags, the addon creates a separate button, effectively building an extra button bar that complements the clickable buttons in the Quest Watch frame. This functionality was adopted from the Quest Item Bar addon created by Nickenyfiken and ZidayaXis. Those original authors had no plans to maintain it, so the core functionality was carried over here to keep it alive for modern clients.

This means you no longer need to open your quest log, find the right item, and click it manually. The button is already there, hotkey assigned, ready to go.

Supported Items and Game Versions

The item list has grown considerably over time. Rogues will appreciate that locked lockboxes appear on the button according to their lockpicking skill level, with the first click starting the pick and the second opening the box. Reputation gain items are also supported, though there is one important caveat: the addon does not check your actual standing. If an item is consumed upon reaching Exalted, it becomes void. Legion Tokens are not affected by this since they remain usable past Exalted. Dragonflight profession knowledge items are supported as well.

Compatibility is broad. New Openables - Continued for World of Warcraft works across Retail and the classic progression line, including Classic, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria. Localized subzones are included for deDE, esES, esMX, frFR, itIT, koKR, ptBR, ruRU, zhCN, and zhTW, and the author actively welcomes additional translations for the nop-locale-enUS.lua file.

A Note on Installation and Launchers

If you want to download New Openables - Continued without wrestling with manual folder structures, the foxygame.net launcher offers a refreshingly simple route, letting you browse its addon catalog and install New Openables - Continued with a single click while keeping it updated automatically. Learning how to install the addon the traditional way is still straightforward: drop the extracted folder into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory, restart the client, and confirm it appears in the addon list at character select.

Known Issues and Future Plans

No addon is perfect, and this one is honest about its gaps. The most likely issue you will encounter is missing Dragonflight profession knowledge items. The list simply has not caught up with every item Blizzard has added. The author openly invites players to send item names for the wish list, and the list grows as suitable items are identified.

If you are tired of bag clutter slowing down your gameplay, this addon is a smart addition to your interface. It keeps your inventory flowing, your quest items accessible, and your hands off the bag window. Give it a try, and consider contributing a translation or an item suggestion to help the project keep growing.
