MDT Route Library
If you spend any serious time in Mythic+, you know the ritual. You finish a key, the group disbands, and you open a browser to find a better route for next week's affixes. You copy an export string, alt-tab back into World of Warcraft, paste it into Mythic Dungeon Tools, and hope the numbers line up. It works, but it pulls you out of the game every single time. MDT Route Library puts an end to that loop by bringing the route catalogue directly into the MDT window where you already do your planning.
What MDT Route Library Actually Does
This addon is not another route planner. It does not draw maps, calculate pulls, or replace anything Mythic Dungeon Tools already does. Instead, it acts as the catalogue in front of MDT. You keep building and viewing routes in MDT exactly as you always have. The addon simply finds the route you want, and MDT displays it. Think of it as a library card catalog bolted onto the side of your favorite dungeon atlas.
Once installed, a new icon appears in MDT's sidebar. Click it, and you get a browsable library grouped by dungeon. You can search by name, author, or dungeon, and filter by key level, pull count, or enemy forces percentage. Mark routes as favourites, and they jump to a dedicated section at the top for quick access next time.
Numbers Before You Commit
The biggest frustration with copying routes from websites is that you never know if they actually work until you're inside the dungeon. MDT Route Library solves this by showing you the math up front. Every route in the list displays what it actually gathers versus what the dungeon requires, presented as a percentage. Routes that fall short are flagged immediately, so you discover a problem while browsing rather than at the last boss with zero time left on the clock.
Digging deeper, each pull is broken down into the enemies it contains, with a running enemy forces percentage right next to it. Hover over any enemy for a full breakdown: 3D model, level, creature type, health, enemy forces contribution, and every ability that enemy uses. Interruptible abilities are outlined for quick scanning, dispel types are color-coded, and the tooltip even names which classes can remove each debuff. This turns route selection from a gamble into an informed decision.
It Leaves Your MDT Setup Alone
One common fear with addons that touch MDT is that they will clutter your preset list or overwrite your carefully crafted routes. MDT Route Library is designed to be hands-off. Nothing is written into your preset list when the addon loads. A route only appears there when you explicitly ask for it.
Use "Show on map" to preview a route in a single preview slot per dungeon. That slot gets overwritten the next time you preview something else. If you find a keeper, "Save to MDT" creates a permanent copy that becomes an ordinary preset of yours, and the addon never touches it again. Your own presets are never modified or deleted. They do show up in the library list, however, complete with the same enemy forces percentage as community routes, which gives you a handy way to audit your old routes and see which ones still hold up under current tuning.
Where the Routes Come From
The library is community-built and still young, so it is thin in places. Every route is credited to its author, and adding one takes about a minute. Build a route in MDT, type /routes submit, copy the code, and paste it into a submission on the project's GitHub page. Approved routes go out within minutes, so the library grows quickly as more players contribute.
For players juggling multiple versions of the game, it is worth noting that the addon works with the retail version of World of Warcraft where Mythic Dungeon Tools is active. Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP players will find MDT itself is not available there, so the library naturally applies to Retail content only. The addon hooks into MDT's public plugin API and requires nothing beyond Mythic Dungeon Tools itself.
Commands and Installation
Getting started is straightforward. The addon uses a few simple slash commands:
/routes— open the browser/routes submit— pack the route currently open in MDT for submission/routes status— check data age and MDT connection/routes cleanup— remove preview presets from MDT
As for how to install, the process is the same as any other World of Warcraft addon. Download MDT Route Library, extract the folder into your Interface/AddOns directory, and restart the game. Make sure Mythic Dungeon Tools is installed and up to date, then log in and look for the new icon in MDT's sidebar. If you prefer a more automated approach, the foxygame.net launcher includes MDT Route Library in its addon catalog, letting you install it with a single click and keep it updated automatically alongside your other mods. The launcher handles version compatibility checks so you never end up with a broken plugin after a patch.
Source code, issue tracking, and route submissions all live on the project's GitHub repository. The addon is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment and is not an official part of Mythic Dungeon Tools, but it fills a genuine gap in the workflow. For anyone tired of the copy-paste shuffle between browser and game, MDT Route Library for World of Warcraft is a small quality-of-life win that pays off every single key you run.
