MavBattlecry: Battlecry Auto-Reply and Raid Sounds for WoW

MavBattlecry adds MAVROG battlecry auto-reply, group join music, ready check sounds, and boss pull yells for World of Warcraft.

MavBattlecry

Every guild has that one player who yells MAVROG in chat and expects the world to answer. MavBattlecry makes sure it does. This companion plugin for MavCore turns a simple shout into a full audio event: a battlecry sound, a giant on-screen text warning, and an automatic reply in your enabled channels. If you have ever wanted your raid nights to feel less like a spreadsheet and more like a concert, this is the addon for you.

MavBattlecry for World of Warcraft began life as part of the old all-in-one Mavrog Battlecry package. Since version 2.0.0 it has been rebuilt as a plugin for MavCore, which means it runs standalone or alongside MavKit without conflict. Upgrading from the old version is painless: your settings are imported automatically on first load, so you keep your sounds, channels, and toggles exactly as they were.

What MavBattlecry Actually Does

The core feature is MAVROG detection. The addon watches chat for the battlecry in many spellings and ignores letter case entirely, so "mavrog", "MAVROG", and everything in between triggers the same response. When it fires, you get the battlecry audio, a large text warning on screen, and an automatic reply in whichever channels you have enabled, with a per-player cooldown to stop spam. Whisper replies are optional if you want the response to stay private.

Beyond the shout itself, the addon handles several quality-of-life raid sounds:

  • Group join music: metal stingers play when you join a party or raid.
  • Manual song: the /mav song command plays a synced song for every guildie running the addon, restricted to Mavrog, GM, and officers.
  • Ready check sound replacement: swap the default ready check noise for something with more bite.
  • Boss pull yell: a raid-only /yell battlecry fires on ENCOUNTER_START, so the pull gets the announcement it deserves.

There is also a version notify feature and a stats tracker via /mav stats, which counts your battlecries over time. If you like numbers, it is oddly satisfying.

Commands and Configuration

Everything runs through the /mav slash command, and /mavrog still works as an alias. The command list is short and memorable:

  • /mav triggers the battlecry manually.
  • /mav help lists all commands, including those from other Mav plugins.
  • /mav config opens the settings page.
  • /mav stop silences all sounds instantly.
  • /mav song plays the synced song.
  • /mav stats shows your battlecry statistics.
  • /mav test sound|music|raid|party previews each audio type.
  • /mav toggle sound|warning|music|song|ready flips individual features on or off.

Configuration lives under Options, AddOns, Mav, Battlecry. You can enable or disable Play Sound, Show Text Warning, Group Join Music, Manual Song, Replace Ready Check Sound, Encounter Pull Yell, and Listen to Channels. The sound channel selector sits on the main Mav page rather than the Battlecry sub-page, which is worth remembering the first time you go looking for it.

Installation and Version Support

If you are wondering how to install, the process is the standard one: place the addon folder in your Interface/AddOns directory and restart the client. MavBattlecry supports Retail, Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP, so whether you are pushing current content or reliving older expansions, the addon behaves the same way. Compatibility with MavCore is handled automatically, and the plugin works fine without MavKit installed.

For players who prefer a smoother setup, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install for MavBattlecry, pulling the correct build for your client version and handling updates without manual folder juggling. It is a convenient option if you run several addons and do not want to check each one by hand.

A Few Notes Before You Dive In

Outdoors, World of Warcraft blocks addon-triggered /say and /yell messages, so the addon simply skips those channels in the open world. This is a game limitation, not a bug, and the rest of the features keep working normally. The addon currently uses the shared Mav icon, with dedicated artwork planned for the future.

If you want the full raid utility suite, including MavWipeTracker, MavLustTracker, MavDeathSounds, and MavMediaCast, you will need MavKit as well. Those tools live there, while MavBattlecry stays focused on the battlecry experience itself.

So if your guild runs on inside jokes and loud noises, download MavBattlecry and give the people what they want. One shout, one reply, one very loud pull.
