MarketLens

If you have ever stared at an item in World of Warcraft and wondered what it actually sells for, or listed a stack of ore only to find you undercut the market by half, you know the Auction House can be a guessing game. MarketLens changes that. This modular addon brings useful market information straight into your item tooltips and adds practical tools for scanning prices, finding deals, tracking items, buying crafting materials, calculating crafting costs, selling auctions, reviewing sales, and checking your inventory. It is designed to make Auction House information useful without requiring complicated groups, operations, or configuration.

Market Information Directly in Your Tooltips

Hover over any item and MarketLens can show its current Auction House information right inside the normal World of Warcraft tooltip. Using data collected by the included in-game Scanner, the addon displays the minimum buyout, available quantity, and the age of the latest market data. If you use the optional MarketLens Companion, additional information becomes available, including market value, 7-day average, 30-day average, and the number of active auctions. MarketLens can also add your own trading information to tooltips, such as your average purchase price, average sale price, and owned quantity across your entire account.

The MarketLens Auction House Hub

MarketLens adds its own integrated Auction House area with quick access to several market tools, all without replacing Blizzard's normal interface. The hub contains a Scanner for updating current market data, a Watchlist for monitoring selected items and local price history, a Deals section for finding auctions listed below market values, and a Sales view for reviewing your recorded Auction House revenue.

MarketLens Scanner

Updating your market data is a single click. The Scanner reads current Auction House information through World of Warcraft's addon APIs and stores a compact local snapshot with the latest available prices. It does not build a historical database for the entire Auction House, keeping things lightweight and focused.

MarketLens Deals

The Deals module compares current listings against known MarketLens pricing data and highlights potentially interesting offers directly inside the hub. This gives you a quick way to spot unusually cheap auctions without manually searching through individual items. Purchases are always made manually through Blizzard's normal Auction House interface.

Buyer, Crafting, and Seller Modules

MarketLens truly shines when you combine its modules. The Buyer module turns tracked profession recipes into a practical shopping assistant, automatically collecting required purchasable reagents and displaying them next to the buying interface. It can combine reagents from multiple recipes, add quantities, group crafting qualities as alternatives, and even prefill missing quantities. Persistent Shopping Lists let you create, rename, and reorder saved entries with drag and drop.

The Crafting module adds market-based information to the profession interface, calculating estimated material costs, profit or loss, market value of the crafted result, and the value of Concentration where applicable. The Seller module sits next to the normal selling interface, showing a recommended price, the current cheapest offer, market value, deposit, and vendor value. It can warn you when your selected price is significantly below market, when extremely cheap listings are distorting the lowest price, or when selling to a vendor may be safer.

Watchlist, Auctions, Sales, and Inventory

The Watchlist lets you track specific items and record their prices locally whenever you update it. Each watched item displays current price, observed price level, lowest and highest observed prices, and crafting quality where applicable. A graphical price history shows development over 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or your complete local history. You can set a personal target price, and when it is reached, the item is highlighted and a chat notification appears.

The Auctions module extends Blizzard's normal view with current best available price, your listed unit price, and whether your auction has been undercut. The Sales module records completed sales from Auction House mails, providing an account-wide history with revenue after fees, plus summaries for today, the last 7 days, and the last 30 days. The Inventory module shows how many copies of an item you own across your characters, character banks, and your Warband Bank.

Installation and Compatibility

For those wondering how to install, the process is straightforward. Download MarketLens, extract the modules into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns folder, and enable them from the AddOns menu. The addon works across Retail, Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP versions, with modules adapting to each version's interface. If you use the foxygame.net launcher, you can find MarketLens in its addon catalog for one-click installation, and the launcher handles version compatibility and auto-updates so you always run the latest release.

MarketLens integrates directly into the existing World of Warcraft Auction House and profession interfaces instead of replacing them. When using the default Blizzard interface, it follows the native visual style, and if EllesmereUI is installed, MarketLens automatically adapts its supported modules to fit.

Why Choose MarketLens?

MarketLens focuses on the Auction House and profession tasks you actually need. Check what an item is worth, scan current prices, find deals, see how many items you own, buy materials for tracked recipes, craft with useful cost and profit information, watch items until they reach your price, sell without blindly following suspicious undercuts, and review active auctions and completed sales. There are no complicated pricing operations or required configuration systems. Install MarketLens, choose the modules you want, and use the Auction House normally.

All data is stored locally in your SavedVariables. The Scanner reads publicly available Auction House information through addon APIs, and the optional Companion, currently available for German EU realms, can keep market data updated automatically in the background. Support for additional regions is planned. For a tool that respects your time and your wallet, download MarketLens and see what the market really looks like.
