Hourstone – Azeroth Hours
How much time have you actually spent in Azeroth? It is a question every veteran player asks sooner or later, usually right after a marathon raid night or a weekend lost to leveling an alt. Hourstone – Azeroth Hours answers it cleanly, pulling your characters' total and session playtime into a single compact window that stays out of your way while you play.
Unlike many tracking tools, this addon stands completely on its own. No companion app, no external account, and no second addon are required to get started. If you can type a chat command, you can use it.
What Hourstone – Azeroth Hours Actually Does
At its core, the addon records the /played time Blizzard already stores for each of your characters and presents it in a readable overview. Every character appears after its first login with the addon enabled, and the server's total includes time played before you installed anything. Offline hours are excluded, so the numbers reflect genuine time in-game.
The character list shows name, class color, level, realm, last recorded guild, client, playtime, and the last update. You can search by character or guild, filter by realm and client, and sort columns however you like. Totals can be displayed as decimal hours or as days, hours, and minutes, whichever suits your brain better.
Retail Progress: Keystones and the Great Vault
On Retail, a second tab goes well beyond playtime. The Progress view displays your current keystone with its dungeon name and level, your highest completed Mythic+ level this week (overtime completions included), and all three Great Vault slots across Dungeon, Raid, and World activities. Dungeon names, key levels, weekly runs, and Vault requirements are read directly from World of Warcraft, so you never have to maintain a season list by hand. Hover any cell for full names, slot progress, difficulty, and the time the data was recorded.
Supported Versions and Compatibility
Hourstone – Azeroth Hours for World of Warcraft supports the Retail client along with the Classic family: Classic Era, TBC Anniversary, WotLK, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria Classic. Hardcore and Season of Discovery run on the Era family and have not been separately verified, so treat those as untested rather than unsupported. Classic clients keep the playtime view with the same scaling options, while keystone and Vault tracking remain Retail-only features.
If you juggle several installations or PCs, the optional Hourstone Companion merges saved data from your selected accounts into one overview, counting the same character only once. Progress synchronization requires Companion 0.2.0 on every participating PC, and received data always stays separate from local measurements. The addon itself remains fully usable without it.
For players who prefer a tidy setup, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process in a single click, and its addon catalog keeps Hourstone – Azeroth Hours updated automatically across every supported client version, so you never have to check for a new release manually.
How to Install and Get Started
Getting running takes less than a minute. If you are wondering how to install it, the process follows the standard addon routine:
- Download Hourstone – Azeroth Hours from your preferred addon source and place the folder in your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory.
- Restart the game or reload your interface so the addon loads correctly.
- Open the window with /hourstone or /azerothhours.
- Log in with each character you want recorded; data saves at logout or /reload.
The window itself is highly adjustable. Drag the title bar to reposition it, and the location saves the moment you release it. A gear button opens display settings, including scaling from 65 to 200 percent in 5 percent steps, an optional draggable minimap button, and a choice between English and German interfaces. At larger sizes fewer rows appear, but scrolling reaches every character, and the window automatically shrinks if it would otherwise exceed your screen.
Managing Characters and Deletions
Right-clicking a character lets you delete it from the overview and its totals, though your actual WoW character and saved playtime remain untouched. Deleted entries can be restored under the gear menu in the Deleted characters section. A fresh login with that character also restores a known deletion, while a simple /reload does not.
A Clean Answer to an Old Question
Hourstone – Azeroth Hours does one job exceptionally well: it turns scattered playtime data and weekly Retail progress into one clear, searchable window. It requires nothing beyond the game itself, respects your existing saves, and scales from a quick glance to a full account audit. Whether you are a Classic leveling addict or a Retail key pusher chasing Vault slots, the answer to "how long have I actually played?" is now two chat commands away.
