GlanceCast
Every World of Warcraft player knows the struggle: you are deep in a boss fight, the mechanics are flying, and you still need to check your action bars for the next spell, an active proc, or whether your interrupt is ready. GlanceCast solves that problem by pulling the information you need off your bars and placing it right where your eyes already are. It is a heads-up display for your rotation, and once you try it, going back feels impossible.
What GlanceCast Does
GlanceCast takes the spell that the game's own Assisted Highlight recommends and shows it in a small, movable window you can position anywhere, for example just under your character. A second window tracks every proc currently glowing on your bars, a third lists the attacks your target is in range of, a fourth displays your major cooldowns the moment they return, and a fifth reveals your interrupt when an enemy begins a cast you can stop.
Each window tells you everything your action bar button would: whether the spell is usable yet, when it will be, and whether your target is in range. The icons cannot be clicked, so your mouse clicks pass straight through to whatever is behind them. You still cast from your action bars and keybinds as usual, and GlanceCast never casts anything on its own.
Key Features at a Glance
- Next-spell window with the recommended icon, your keybind, and the game's marching ants glow
- Proc window showing every active proc once, with cooldown, charges, and optional sound alerts
- Range window listing attacks and debuffs that can reach your target right now
- Ready window for the major cooldowns you choose, ordered however you like
- Interrupt window that appears only when a kick will actually land
Compatibility Across World of Warcraft Versions
GlanceCast supports the modern Retail client as well as the classic progression servers, including Classic, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria. Whether you are pushing keys on Retail or leveling through old Azeroth, the addon reads your spells and keybinds the same way. It works alongside Blizzard's default action bars, Bartender4, ElvUI, and Dominos, and with Masque installed, each window becomes its own Masque group so you can skin it to match your UI.
If you want a fast, hassle-free setup, the foxygame.net launcher installs GlanceCast for World of Warcraft in a single click and keeps it updated automatically, so you never have to hunt down a new build after a patch.
How to Install GlanceCast
Getting started is simple. If you download GlanceCast through the foxygame.net launcher, the addon lands in the right folder automatically and updates itself whenever a new version appears. Manual installation works too: place the extracted folder into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory, then log in.
Once inside the game, the windows appear when you enter combat or target an enemy. Open Edit Mode with Esc, then Edit Mode, and drag each window wherever you want it. Click a window in Edit Mode to adjust its visibility, scale from 0.5x to 3x, opacity, and icon shape. The proc, range, and ready windows can display as rows, columns, or even an arc curving around your character. Each Edit Mode layout remembers its own positions, so every specialization can have a distinct setup.
Making It Yours
Prefer round buttons? Set any window's icons to Round for a bronze ring and circular cooldown sweeps. The ready window lets you drag spells into a list and reorder them, and a spell like Ironfur also shows its buff running out with a countdown and a gold burst when it ends. A per-character ignore list keeps unwanted spells, such as Tame Beast, out of the range window.
Frequently Asked Questions
The next-spell window stays empty if your class or specialization does not support the Assisted Highlight system, or if the recommended spell is not on a visible action bar. A proc will not appear unless the procced spell sits on one of your bars. If a spell is missing from the range window, check the range ignore list under Options, AddOns, GlanceCast. The quest item window has moved to GlanceQuest, the questing companion addon, so install that to get it back.
Can you click the icons to cast? No. The windows are for looking only, and clicks pass through them. Does GlanceCast automate anything? Never. You press every key yourself. If something seems off, type /glancecast why followed by a spell name, and the addon explains window by window what is keeping it out.
Final Thoughts
GlanceCast turns your rotation into something you can read at a glance instead of hunting for across a crowded screen. It respects the way World of Warcraft is meant to be played, keeps you in full control, and looks like a natural part of the interface. Whether you raid on Retail or quest through Wrath of the Lich King, it is one of the smartest quality-of-life addons you can add to your setup.
