Emberstone
Every World of Warcraft player knows the feeling: your guild downs a Mythic+ boss, someone dings max level, or you finally win that Arena match, and nobody thought to hit the screenshot key. Emberstone solves that problem permanently. This lightweight addon watches your character around the clock and captures the moments that matter, so your guild's history writes itself without anyone lifting a finger.
What Does Emberstone Do?
At its core, Emberstone is an automatic screenshot and notification tool built for guilds and solo players alike. The moment something meaningful happens, it snaps a screenshot and, if you want, announces it to your guild. No macros, no manual timing, no missed moments.
- Automatic screenshots for level-ups, boss kills in Delves, Mythic+, Arena, and Battlegrounds
- Guild-wide level-up notifications in chat and directly on screen
- Custom AFK auto-reply that sends a random line from your own list instead of a plain "AFK" message
- Full configuration through the native Blizzard options menu under Game Menu and AddOns
- Adjustable delay and automatic quality reduction during lag, so screenshots never hurt performance
- Reliable duplicate protection, so the same milestone is never captured twice
- Account-wide and per-character counters to track your progress over time
Compatibility Across WoW Versions
Retail and WoW Forever
Emberstone is officially compatible with Retail and WoW Forever, which covers the modern live client and the Classic progression realms. Whether you are pushing keys on the current patch or reliving older content, the addon behaves the same way: install it, configure it, and forget about it.
Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP
Players working through the Classic timeline will be glad to know that Emberstone for World of Warcraft supports the full spread of legacy versions, including Classic, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria. That means your guild's level-up announcements and milestone screenshots keep working no matter which era you are playing through. If you hop between a Classic realm and Retail, the addon keeps your counters and settings intact.
New in Version 1.11: AFK Auto-Reply
The latest update adds a feature many players have wanted for years. When someone whispers you while you are AFK, Emberstone can reply with a random line from a list you write yourself, instead of the default "AFK" message. It is off by default, so nothing changes unless you want it to. To turn it on, type /emberstone afk on in chat and add your own lines. It is a small touch, but it makes stepping away from the keyboard a lot more fun.
How to Install Emberstone
Installation is straightforward. Download Emberstone from your preferred addon source, then extract the folder into your World of Warcraft Interface/AddOns directory. Restart the game or type /reload, and the addon will appear in your AddOns list. From there, open the Game Menu, click AddOns, and select Emberstone to adjust delays, notification settings, and screenshot quality. If you prefer a simpler route, the foxygame.net launcher handles Emberstone with a single click and keeps it updated automatically, so you never have to dig through folders or worry about version mismatches again.
Why Guilds Love It
Guilds thrive on shared memories, and Emberstone turns those memories into an automatic archive. Officers no longer need to remind everyone to screenshot a first kill, and members get instant recognition when they level up. The duplicate protection means your screenshot folder stays clean, and the performance safeguards mean even players on older machines can leave it running during raids without stutter. Account-wide counters also give guild leaders a quiet way to see who is progressing and when.
Final Thoughts
Emberstone is one of those addons that quietly improves every session. It removes the friction from capturing achievements, celebrates your guildmates automatically, and now even handles your AFK replies with personality. Whether you raid on Retail, level through WotLK, or bounce between Classic eras, this addon is worth a permanent spot in your AddOns folder. Install it once, tweak the options to taste, and never miss an important moment again.
