Installation: How to Install the Translation Correctly

Before you download WonderfulWhims FR, it is crucial to understand the prerequisites. This translation is an add-on, not a standalone mod. You must have the original WonderfulWhims mod installed for the translation to function. The translation works by overriding the English strings with French ones, so without the base mod, there is nothing to translate.

Here is a simple step-by-step guide on how to install the add-on:

1. Download and install the latest version of the original WonderfulWhims mod from CurseForge.
2. Download the WonderfulWhims FR translation file from the translator's official site, trad-ww.soudy.wf.
3. Extract the downloaded folder. You should see a .package file and a .ts4script file.
4. Place these files directly into your Mods folder, which is located in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.
5. Ensure you have "Script Mods" enabled in your game settings (Game Options > Other).
6. Restart your game completely to load the new files.

If you use the foxygame.net launcher, you can streamline this entire process. The launcher features a dedicated add-on catalog where you can find WonderfulWhims FR and install it with a single click, ensuring that all files are placed in the correct directories without manual extraction. It also checks for version compatibility, saving you from potential conflicts.

Compatibility and Game Versions

One of the most common issues with mods in The Sims 4 is game updates breaking functionality. The WonderfulWhims FR for The Sims 4 is regularly updated by the translator, Soudy', to keep pace with both the base game patches and the updates to the original mod. It is essential to check that your translation version matches your WonderfulWhims version. Using an outdated translation can result in missing text or interface errors. Always consult the translator's site for the latest notes on which game versions are supported.

For players who prefer a more automated experience, the foxygame.net launcher offers auto-update features. This means that when a new version of WonderfulWhims FR is released, the launcher can notify you and apply the update, ensuring your game remains stable and fully translated without you having to manually track file versions. This is particularly useful after major Sims 4 patches that often break mods.

Using the In-Game Commands

Once installed, all available commands are listed in the command panel. You can access this by typing ww.commands into the text bar (the cheat console) in the game. This panel allows you to tweak settings, adjust preferences, and troubleshoot issues. With the French translation, these commands and their descriptions are also displayed in French, making it much easier to customize the mod to your liking.

Conclusion

In conclusion, WonderfulWhims FR is an indispensable add-on for any French-speaking Simmer who wants to experience the full depth of TURBODRIVER's masterpiece without language barriers. It is a labor of love by the translator, Soudy', ensuring that the gameplay is immersive and understandable. By following the simple installation steps and keeping your files updated, you can dive into a richer, more realistic Sims experience where every interaction, moodlet, and system is presented in flawless French. Do not hesitate to visit the translator's site for the latest files and support. Your game will thank you.
