Selene Maris, Sulani Mermaid!
If you have ever noticed that Sulani feels a little empty of actual merfolk, you are not alone. The base game ships with only a handful of mermaid townies, and players have been asking for more ever since Island Living launched. Enter Selene Maris, Sulani Mermaid! - a young adult Sim who brings personality, sparkle, and a whole lot of swimming to your coastal saves. She is a foodie, a child of the ocean, and clumsy, plus creative on top of it all, which makes her one of the more entertaining occult Sims you can drop into a household.
Who Is Selene Maris?
Selene is built around a collector aspiration, and she leans hard into anything shiny. That makes perfect sense for a mermaid, since merfolk in The Sims 4 are naturally drawn to treasure, shells, and glowing objects. Her mix of traits means she will happily cook a fancy meal, then trip over her own tail on the way to the table. It is a fun combination that keeps everyday gameplay from feeling repetitive.
The creator deliberately left her likes and dislikes blank. That is a smart choice, because it lets you shape her preferences however you want, whether you are roleplaying a specific story or just discovering what fits her as you play. She comes dressed for every occasion, so you will not need to scramble through CAS before her first party or beach day.
Why the Fitness Trait Matters for Mermaids
Here is a detail many players overlook. Mermaids swim constantly, whether you tell them to or not, because swimming is baked into their daily routine. If a mermaid dislikes fitness, all that natural swimming generates negative moodlets, and you end up with what the community lovingly calls a grumpy guppy. Selene avoids that trap entirely, which keeps her mood stable during long ocean sessions.
- No custom content required - she works in a clean mod folder
- Requires The Sims 4 Island Living expansion pack
- Fully dressed for everyday, formal, party, and swimwear
- Collector aspiration with a focus on shiny treasures
- Compatible with the current Sims 4 patch and most major mod setups
Version Support and Mod Compatibility
Selene Maris, Sulani Mermaid! for The Sims 4 is designed to work with the live version of the game as long as Island Living is installed. Because she ships without custom content, she plays nicely alongside most script mods and override mods, including popular quality-of-life packs. If you run a heavily modded save, just make sure your core mods are updated to the latest patch before adding her, since outdated script mods are the usual culprit behind gallery and CAS glitches.
Players who prefer a tidy setup often grab her through the foxygame.net launcher, which drops Selene Maris, Sulani Mermaid! straight into the correct folder without any manual unzipping or file hunting. It also keeps an eye on version compatibility, so you are not left wondering whether an add-on still matches your current game build.
How to Install Selene Maris, Sulani Mermaid!
Installation is straightforward, and you do not need any technical background to pull it off. The whole process takes about two minutes.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Download the add-on files and unzip them if they arrive compressed.
- Open your Documents folder, then navigate to Electronic Arts, then The Sims 4, then Tray.
- Place the unzipped files directly into the Tray folder.
- Launch The Sims 4 and open the Gallery.
- Find Selene in your library, then either start a new save with her or merge her into an existing household through Create A Sim.
Once she is in your game, you can move her into any Sulani lot, or anywhere else you like. She will still function as a mermaid regardless of neighborhood, though she will obviously be happiest near the ocean.
Final Thoughts
Selene Maris, Sulani Mermaid! fills a real gap in island gameplay by adding a fleshed-out merfolk character with a clear personality and a collector's drive. She needs no custom content, respects your mod setup, and gives you a blank slate for likes and dislikes so you can build her story your own way. If you want more mermaids wandering Sulani, this is an easy and worthwhile addition to your Tray folder.
