Privacy Tweak
Every simmer knows the awkward moment when a Sim walks in on a family member in the shower. The frantic arm waving, the mortified expression, and the sudden moodlet that ruins an otherwise perfect morning. For years, players have begged for a solution, and the Privacy Tweak mod delivers exactly that. This clever tuning mod redefines the social boundaries of your Sims' bathrooms, allowing close friends and relatives to share these spaces without the dreaded embarrassment penalty. It is a small change with a massive impact on the realism and flow of your household gameplay.
What Does Privacy Tweak Actually Do?
The core function of this mod is simple: it removes the negative embarrassment buff that triggers when Sims who share a close relationship (like siblings, parents, or best friends) see each other nude or in the middle of a shower. Instead of causing a scene, they simply continue their routine. The mod is designed to make large family homes feel less chaotic, as multiple Sims can use the bathroom facilities simultaneously without generating negative sentiment towards each other.
Who Still Gets Embarrassed?
While the mod broadens the scope of who can share a bathroom, it does not remove all consequences. The creator has specifically programmed exceptions to maintain a level of realism. Privacy Tweak will not protect you from the following:
- Squeamish Sims: Sims with the Squeamish trait will still react negatively to seeing others in a vulnerable state.
- Distant Childhood Phase: Children in a distant or rebellious childhood phase will still feel the embarrassment, as their emotional state is volatile.
This ensures that the mod doesn't break the game's personality systems. You still need to respect the boundaries of specific traits, but you no longer have to micromanage every family member's shower schedule to avoid a household-wide meltdown.
Technical Compatibility and Required Packs
Before you download Privacy Tweak, it is crucial to understand its technical footprint. This mod works by altering specific tuning files that govern privacy and nudity broadcasts. According to the creator, it is compatible with the base game and does not strictly require any expansion or game packs to function. The "Required Packs" section is listed as empty, meaning you can use this mod even if you only own the base game.
However, because it modifies core tuning files, it will conflict with any other mod that alters the same data. Specifically, it touches files like privacy_snippet_medium_distance, broadcaster_Outfit_Nude, and various shower_takeshower_wall_privacy_CT variants. If you use other mods that affect shower privacy or nude broadcasting, you will need to choose which one to keep. The mod is generally compatible with the latest patches for The Sims 4, but always check the creator's website (seebee.de) for the most up-to-date version notes.
How to Install
Installing this mod is straightforward, even for beginners. Here is a quick guide on how to install it correctly:
- Download the mod file from the creator's website or a trusted mod repository.
- Extract the .package file from the downloaded archive (usually a .zip or .rar file).
- Place the extracted file into your Mods folder. The default path is: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods.
- Ensure that "Script Mods" and "Custom Content" are enabled in your Game Options > Other settings.
- Restart the game completely to ensure the mod loads correctly.
If you are looking for a more streamlined approach, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install feature that places Privacy Tweak directly into the correct directory, saving you the hassle of manual file management. This is particularly useful for players who manage large mod libraries and want to avoid the risk of placing files in the wrong subfolder.
Why You Should Download Privacy Tweak
If you are tired of your Sims getting angry every time they need to brush their teeth while their spouse is in the shower, this is the mod for you. It streamlines gameplay, reduces unnecessary negative moodlets, and allows for a more natural flow of family life. The mod respects the game's lore by keeping exceptions for specific traits, ensuring it doesn't feel overpowered or unrealistic.
Furthermore, the foxygame.net launcher's add-on catalog regularly updates to reflect the latest mod versions, ensuring that Privacy Tweak remains compatible with your current game patch. This auto-update feature is a lifesaver for players who forget to manually check for mod updates after a Sims 4 patch breaks their existing mods.
