Functional Tray for Tea and Coffee
Your Sims deserve better than a single mug of instant coffee. With the Functional Tray for Tea and Coffee, you can transform everyday kitchen routines into a social event. This clever add-on brings a fully interactive serving tray to your Sims' homes, letting them share hot beverages with up to four Sims at once. Whether it's a cozy morning gathering or an evening chat over cocoa, this tray delivers a level of realism and convenience that the base game simply lacks.
The tray is available in five distinct colors, so it can blend seamlessly into any kitchen aesthetic, from sleek modern designs to rustic farmhouse charm. You can purchase it directly in Build Mode under the Kitchen section, specifically in the Small Appliances category. No complex cheats or hidden menus are required to get it into your game.
How the Tray Works in Daily Gameplay
Once placed, the Functional Tray for Tea and Coffee operates on the same intuitive principle as a popular cocktail tray mod. The key difference is that this version is dedicated to hot drinks. Your Sims can use the tray to serve tea, coffee, and hot cocoa to multiple people simultaneously. This makes it an ideal addition for family breakfasts, house parties, or even a quiet afternoon with a visiting neighbor.
One of the standout features is the "Grab a Drink with" interaction. This opens a selection menu that lets your Sim invite other Sims to share a drink together. It is a fantastic way to boost Social and Fun needs while also filling the Hunger bar. The tray supports up to four cups at a time, ensuring no one is left waiting for their beverage.
Maintenance and Portability
Cleaning up after a social gathering is a breeze. You can empty the entire tray with a single button press, which removes all used cups instantly. Alternatively, if the tray is still full of fresh drinks, you can refill it without needing to clear it first. This streamlined approach saves your Sims valuable time that they could otherwise spend chatting or relaxing.
Another clever feature is the ability to carry the empty tray in a Sim's luggage. This means you can bring the tray along on vacation lots, rental properties, or even to community lots. It adds a layer of portability that is rare for kitchen appliances in The Sims 4, making it a versatile tool for storytelling and gameplay variety.
Requirements and Compatibility
To get the most out of this add-on, you will need the main Functional Electric Kettle and the 24 Drinks pack. The tray itself does not brew the beverages; it simply serves them. The kettle is the source of the tea, coffee, and cocoa. If you do not own the "For Rent" expansion pack, do not worry. The tray and all its drinks will still function perfectly.
If you are missing that specific catalog, you simply need to place the kettle files into your Mods folder. Even without the expansion, the game will read the required drink data. The only visual difference is that the kettle model itself will not appear in your game, but the functionality remains fully intact. This setup will not harm your save files or game performance.
Supported Game Versions
This mod is designed to work with the base game of The Sims 4 and does not strictly require any specific expansion packs for the tray to function. However, the integration with the "For Rent" catalog is a bonus for those who own it. The mod is regularly updated to stay compatible with the latest game patches. Always check that your game is up to date before downloading to ensure a smooth experience.

Final Thoughts on the Serving Tray
The Functional Tray for Tea and Coffee for The Sims 4 is a must-have for players who enjoy realistic social interactions and efficient kitchen gameplay. It bridges the gap between a simple countertop appliance and a full social hub. The ability to serve multiple drinks, the clean-up convenience, and the portability make it a superior choice compared to standard coffee makers.
Whether you are building a bed-and-breakfast, a family home, or a trendy café, this tray adds warmth and functionality. It encourages your Sims to gather, talk, and share moments that define their stories. By pairing it with the functional kettle, you unlock a complete beverage system that feels native to the game.
