Custom Recipe: Plasma Macaroons
Vampire Sims in The Sims 4 often struggle with a persistent thirst need, especially when plasma fruit is scarce or when you simply want a more elegant solution than drinking from a blood pack. The Custom Recipe: Plasma Macaroons add-on offers a delicious, fluffy macaroon cookie filled with plasma fruit marmalade that regenerates vampire thirst. This is not a new creation; it is an old recipe, lovingly remade and re-released as a standalone recipe, making it easier than ever to integrate into your gameplay.
What Does This Recipe Add to Your Game?
This mod introduces a single new baking recipe that fits seamlessly into the existing culinary system. Your vampire Sims can now prepare a sweet treat that is both visually appealing and mechanically useful. The macaroons are crafted on a fridge, stove, or cupcake machine, and they come in three serving sizes: Single (1), Family (4), and Party (8). This flexibility makes them perfect for a quiet evening at home or a large gathering of the undead.
The key ingredient, plasma fruit, is already a staple in vampire gameplay. However, this recipe elevates it from a raw snack to a gourmet dessert. The optional ingredients feature is a notable addition: if you are missing sugar or eggs, you can still craft the dish by paying a small fee for the missing components. This quality-of-life feature ensures that your Sim is not blocked by a lack of pantry staples. The only exception is when the "Simple Living Lot Challenge" from Cottage Living is active on your home lot. In that case, all ingredients must be physically present, and no fee can substitute for them. There is no cost to craft the dish if you use all ingredients, whether the challenge is enabled or not.
Requirements and Mod Compatibility
Before you download Custom Recipe: Plasma Macaroons, you need to ensure you have the correct base files. This add-on requires the base game and either Srsly's Cooking Menus - 3.0.6+ or Srsly's Complete Cooking Overhaul. Alternatively, you can use Srsly's Modding Resource to make the recipe work. This dependency is crucial because the mod uses the custom menu structure provided by these frameworks. Without them, the recipe will not appear in your Sim's interaction list.
For players using the Home Chef Hustle stuff pack, this recipe is fully compatible. It also works well with the Simple Living Lot Challenge, as mentioned above. The mod does not conflict with other cooking mods as long as you are using one of the required Srsly frameworks. If you have questions or encounter issues, the creator maintains a Discord server called "Srsly's Lounge," where you can open a ticket in the #game_helpdesk channel for assistance.
Skill Level and Menu Location
To unlock this recipe, your Sim needs a Baking skill of level 2. This is a modest requirement, meaning even relatively new cooks can attempt it. Once unlocked, you will find it under Make Custom > Occult > Vampires > Dessert. The menu placement is intuitive, grouping it with other occult-specific dishes. The recipe accepts no prepped ingredients, so you will need to use raw sugar, eggs, and plasma fruit directly.
How to Install the Mod
Learning how to install this mod is straightforward. First, download the mod file from a trusted source. After downloading, locate your Sims 4 mods folder, typically found in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods. Extract the downloaded archive if necessary and place the .package file (and any included scripts) directly into the Mods folder. Ensure that you have enabled script mods in your game settings. After launching the game, check the mod list to confirm that the add-on is loaded. You may need to restart the game if you added it while the game was running.
If you are looking for a more streamlined experience, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install for Custom Recipe: Plasma Macaroons for The Sims 4, which automatically places files in the correct directories and checks for version compatibility with your installed Srsly frameworks. This is especially useful if you manage many mods and want to avoid manual folder navigation.
Gameplay Tips for Using the Macaroons
Once your vampire Sim has mastered the Baking skill and crafted a batch, you will notice a significant improvement in thirst management. Here are a few ways to get the most out of this add-on:
- Stock up on plasma fruit by planting it in your garden or buying it from the grocery delivery service.
- Make a Party-sized batch (8 servings) before hosting a social event to keep all vampire guests satisfied.
- Use the optional ingredient fee feature when you are in a hurry and cannot shop for eggs or sugar.
- Combine this recipe with the "Simple Living" challenge for a more hardcore survival experience.
The macaroons are not just functional; they also add a layer of role-playing depth. Imagine your vampire Sim running a bakery that secretly caters to the occult community. The fluffy texture and plasma fruit marmalade filling make this a premium dessert that any vampire would crave. For those who use the foxygame.net launcher, the add-on catalog within the launcher will notify you when updates to Custom Recipe: Plasma Macaroons are available, ensuring you always have the latest fixes without manually checking mod pages.
