Express Your Style with the Wearables Mod in Minecraft
Minecraft’s default armor system gets the job done, but it rarely lets you stand out. The Wearables mod completely reimagines how you dress your character, offering a deep, layered system for crafting, coloring, and combining custom wearable items. Beyond just looking good, many of these pieces come with unique gameplay functions—from soaring through the skies to seeing clearly in the darkest caves. If you’ve ever wanted a wardrobe that matches your creativity, this mod delivers.
Before you start crafting, you’ll need the mod itself and its dependency, LLibrary. If you’re using the foxygame.net launcher, you can skip the manual installation steps entirely. Just open the launcher, head to the mod browser, and install both Wearables and LLibrary directly from the menu—it’s a fast, modern way to keep your game modded without digging through folders.
Getting Started: The Wearable Fabricator
Every wearable begins its life in the Wearable Fabricator. This block is your first crafting station, responsible for producing individual components that you’ll later assemble into a finished item. The recipe is simple: combine any type of carpet with any wooden planks in a crafting grid. Once placed, interacting with the Fabricator opens a clean GUI where you can browse all available components.
A scrollable list shows everything from glasses and masks to mechanical wings. Click a component to see a preview and a list of required ingredients. Feed those ingredients into the four input slots at the bottom, and the Fabricator outputs an uncolored component. Think of it as a blueprint workshop—you’re creating the base shapes that will eventually become your personalized gear.
Adding Color with the Wearable Colorizer
Raw components look a bit plain, so the next stop is the Wearable Colorizer. Crafted with dye, iron ingots, and a crafting table, this block lets you paint each layer of a component independently. Place your component in the central slot, and a large preview appears. On the right side, three sliders control red, green, and blue values for the currently selected layer. Tabs on the side let you switch between different parts of the component—for example, you might color the frame of your glasses one shade and the lenses another.
This level of control means no two wearables ever have to look the same. You can match your favorite skin, create a team uniform, or just experiment with wild color combinations. The Colorizer remembers your choices, so you can always go back and tweak the hues later.
Assembling Your Final Wearable
Once your components are colored to perfection, it’s time to bring them together in the Wearable Assembler. Craft this block with any wood or stone slab. The Assembler GUI accepts multiple components that belong to the same armor slot—head, chest, legs, or feet—but you can’t add two items of the same type (no double glasses). As you drop components in, a live preview shows exactly how the finished wearable will look on your character.
This is also where you can add real armor protection. By default, wearables are purely cosmetic and have no durability. Placing a vanilla armor piece (like an iron chestplate) into the dedicated armor slot transfers its defense stats and durability to your wearable, so you never have to sacrifice safety for style.
Some components offer an extra customization layer: the Height property. Clicking the “…” button opens a sub-GUI where you can select individual parts and adjust their vertical offset. This is perfect for aligning glasses with your skin’s eyes or raising a crown to sit just right. When you’re satisfied, pull the wearable out—it now behaves exactly like normal armor, equippable from your inventory.
Functional Wearables That Change the Game
While many wearables are purely aesthetic, several pieces come with powerful abilities that transform how you explore the world.
Jetpack
Hold the jump key to ascend and press forward to zip through the air at high speed. In survival mode, the jetpack consumes Jetpack Fuel, which you can craft shapelessly with blaze powder and a bucket of water. Keep an eye on the fuel gauge, or you’ll come crashing down unexpectedly.
Wings
Wings offer a more graceful flight style. Your pitch matches your character’s head angle, and holding space boosts your speed. Releasing space lets you glide gently, making long-distance travel feel elegant and controlled.
Flippers
On land, flippers slow you down, but the moment you enter water at least two blocks deep, you automatically shift into a swimming position. Movement becomes swift and responsive, perfect for ocean exploration or escaping drowned mobs.
Night Vision Goggles
These goggles brighten your view dramatically at night or in dark caves. Wear them during the day, however, and your vision becomes uncomfortably washed out—so swap them out when the sun rises.
Showing Off Your Creations
Once you’ve crafted a wearable masterpiece, you’ll want to display it. The mod includes two decorative blocks: the Display Mannequin and the Mannequin Head Stand. The full mannequin, crafted with armor stands and smooth stone, accepts any wearable through a GUI. The head stand, made with a stick and a slab, instantly swaps the wearable in your hand when you interact with it. Both are perfect for armor halls, shop builds, or simply admiring your work.
Endless Customization Awaits
The Wearables mod transforms Minecraft’s armor slots into a canvas for personal expression. By breaking the process into fabricating, coloring, and assembling, it gives you granular control over every visual detail. Add in functional gear like jetpacks and flippers, and you have a system that’s as practical as it is creative. Whether you’re building a themed server, designing a unique character, or just tired of looking like everyone else, this mod opens up a world of possibilities. Grab your materials, fire up the Fabricator, and start crafting wearables that are unmistakably yours.
