World Finder
Every Minecraft player knows the routine: you spawn in a fresh world, wonder what lies beyond the nearest hills, and within minutes you have a browser tab open on some seed-mapping website. World Finder removes that back-and-forth entirely. It is a client-side seed map and structure finder that runs directly inside the game, giving you a ChunkBase-style planning tool without ever leaving Minecraft.
What World Finder Actually Does
World Finder is built for exploration and planning. Enter a known seed manually, or let the mod detect it automatically in a supported singleplayer world, and you can browse the Overworld, Nether, and End from a fullscreen in-game map. The map opens on whichever dimension you are currently standing in, so you are never dropped somewhere irrelevant.
Rather than freezing the game while it crunches numbers, World Finder generates terrain progressively in the background. Structure markers appear gradually as discovery progresses, and completed markers are saved locally so your exploration work is not lost between sessions.
Seed Map Features
- Fullscreen in-game map with Overworld, Nether, and End support
- Progressive background generation for a smoother interface
- Player and world-spawn markers
- Chunk grid and slime chunk overlays
- End island, void rendering, and End navigation-radius overlay
- Right-click context menu for coordinates, teleportation, and waypoints
Biome and Structure Tools
The biome system is genuinely deep. You get a searchable biome list, multiple simultaneous selections, filtering, and highlighting, plus dedicated Overworld sampling modes: Underground at Y: -51, Surface at Y: 64, and Highlight, which searches for the actual terrain surface. Biomes outside your current selection stay visible but desaturated, so you keep your bearings.
Structures work similarly. Vanilla structure markers are seed-based and use Minecraft item icons, with a searchable list, multiple selections, and persistent filters. Unsupported filters are handled safely instead of showing misleading locations, which matters a great deal when you are planning a long journey.
Supported Versions and Loaders
World Finder 0.2.0 targets several Minecraft version branches: 1.21.1, 1.21.5, 1.21.11, and the 26.1 through 26.1.2 and 26.2 releases. Both Fabric and NeoForge are supported. Always grab the file that matches both your exact Minecraft version and your mod loader, because mismatches are the most common cause of startup crashes.
If you would rather skip manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process in a single click, pulling World Finder from its curated add-on catalog and keeping it updated automatically whenever a new build lands.
How to Install World Finder for Minecraft
Installation is straightforward, and the mod is entirely client-side, so servers do not need it.
- Install Fabric or NeoForge for your exact Minecraft version.
- Place the matching World Finder jar file into your mods folder.
- Launch the game and open the map with the default key: M on QWERTY layouts, or ; on French AZERTY. You can rebind it in Minecraft's Controls menu.
When you download World Finder, double-check the version branch before launching. Automatic seed detection only works in supported vanilla singleplayer worlds. On multiplayer servers you must enter the exact server seed manually, since World Finder does not bypass server seed protection. Manual seeds are remembered per session only, and caches are separated automatically by Minecraft version, seed, server connection, dimension, and world-generation profile.
Controls at a Glance
Drag with the left mouse button to pan, use the mouse wheel to zoom around the cursor, and hold Ctrl or Shift while scrolling to pan horizontally or vertically. The Center button snaps the view back to your player, and clicking a structure icon centers on it. Clicking a structure cluster opens a grouped list, where left-click recenters the map and right-click opens the context menu.
Waypoints, Addons, and PixelBiomes
World Finder integrates with compatible versions of JourneyMap, Xaero's Minimap and World Map, and FTB Chunks for waypoint creation. If a provider is unavailable or incompatible, it is disabled automatically and never blocks the mod from starting.
Version 0.2.0 is a complete rewrite. It introduces PixelBiomes, World Finder's own biome-map engine, alongside a rebuilt renderer, caching system, and addon architecture. A public, loader-neutral addon API lets compatibility mods contribute custom biomes, structures, generation results, vertical sampling, and waypoint providers without touching Fabric, NeoForge, or version-specific internals. Note that map and session state from older versions is not migrated, though custom key bindings are preserved and no manual cache cleanup is needed.
Final Thoughts
World Finder fills a gap that has annoyed Minecraft players for years: the constant tab-switching between game and browser. With progressive rendering, solid biome and structure filtering, multi-loader support, and a forward-looking addon API, it works equally well as a quick seed checker or a full exploration planning suite. Just remember that structure markers are predictions, not guarantees, so verify anything important in-game before committing to a thousand-block trek.
