Manganese steel comes from rare raw manganese in the Pleistocene dimension. Smelt a Manganese Steel Blend crafted from raw iron, manganese, and silicate from chert, a common white stone in the Pleistocene and Neogene. The resulting ingots become cold-resistant armor, a satchel-style backpack, and a Rock Pick that mines obsidian and archstone efficiently.
Platypodium seed pods drop from platypodium leaves in the Neogene. Plant a pod on ground to grow a small Platypodium elegans, giving you a tidy way to farm legume logs because leaves in this mod do not break on their own.
Taming, Breeding, and the Leptictidium Digging Trick
Pouches are crafted with a pelt, a common drop from small mammals, plus grass or seeds. Use them to tame or breed herbivorous animals. Several species are breedable, and discovering which ones respond to pouches is part of the fun.
