UltraTerraForged

World generation is the first thing players notice when they spawn into a fresh seed, and vanilla terrain has looked familiar for years. UltraTerraForged changes that. It is an unofficial continuation of TerraForged and ReTerraForged that reshapes the overworld into continents, mountain ranges, winding rivers, believable coastlines and sea floors worth diving into. If you have ever wanted a world that feels mapped rather than assembled, this is the add-on to try.

What UltraTerraForged Actually Does

The project only shapes terrain. It adds no biomes of its own, which is exactly why it plays nicely with biome mods, including those built on TerraBlender. Every biome from vanilla and your other mods is placed into terrain that already has believable geography underneath it. Rivers follow the land instead of slicing straight across it, coasts curve into bays and headlands, and oceans drop away from continental shelves into trenches and canyons.

UltraTerraForged is developed with the help of AI, so it moves quickly and keeps pace with the latest Minecraft releases. It carries its own mod id, ultraterraforged, and it is not compatible with worlds created by TerraForged or ReTerraForged, though it can be installed alongside ReTerraForged without conflict.

Supported Versions and Loaders

The current build targets Minecraft 1.20.1 on Fabric, Forge 47.1+ and NeoForge 47.1+. Fabric players will also need Fabric API. Support for Minecraft 1.21.1 and the 26.x releases on Fabric and NeoForge is planned next, so the mod can follow you as you update.

Creating a World

Everything is configured from a Terrain tab when you create a new world. You pick a preset, adjust the main settings with sliders, and watch a live map showing biomes, terrain types and heights update in real time. UltraTerraForged is the default world type, though this can be changed in the config.

A full editor is one click away, offering every setting with search, per-page reset, translated names, and a marker showing what differs from the preset you started with. Built-in presets include Default, Archipelago, Supercontinent, Highlands, Prairie, Badlands, Frozen North, Tropics, Volcanic Isles, Waterlands and Patchwork, plus the original TerraForged presets. You can save your own and share it as a short code.

Landforms, Rivers and Coasts

  • Buttes, mesas, canyons, sea cliffs, sea stacks and volcanic surfaces
  • Fjords, atolls, dunes, tors, salt flats, alluvial fans and glacial valleys
  • Moraines, drumlins, barrier islands with lagoons, karst sinkholes and river deltas
  • Rivers that step down in waterfalls, freezing in cold regions, with gravel and cobbles in the mountains and sand in the lowlands
  • Peninsulas, bays, sand spits, skerries and islands tied to the shore by tombolos

Each landform can be switched off or tuned individually, so you are never stuck with a feature you dislike.

Oceans and Caves

Oceans are not flat blue voids. Continental shelves end in a drop-off, submarine canyons cut into the slope, and deep trenches, seamounts and flat-topped guyots break up the floor. Mid-ocean ridges carry hydrothermal vents, blue holes puncture the shelf, coral reefs grow near the surface, and whale falls rest on sand, gravel and clay instead of bare rock.

Caves are shaped by the land above them without touching any biome. Expect underground rivers, hillside springs, karst caves, lava tubes beneath volcanoes, sea caves and arches in cliff coasts, giant caverns with underground lakes, and ice caves under glaciers. Cave mouths open in slopes and cliffs rather than flat fields. The snow line follows the sun, sitting lower on north-facing slopes, and rock layers are built from vanilla stone plus any mod that tags its rocks the same way.

How to Install UltraTerraForged

Installation follows the usual mod workflow. Add the mod jar to your mods folder for the correct loader and Minecraft version, then launch the game. For dedicated servers, set level-type=ultraterraforged:ultraterraforged in server.properties before the world is created. The first start writes a default preset to config/ultraterraforged/server-preset.json, which you can edit or replace to control the server terrain.

If you would rather skip manual file management, the foxygame.net launcher handles UltraTerraForged through a curated add-on catalog with one-click install and automatic version matching, so the right build for your loader lands in the right folder without guesswork.

Modpack authors get extra control. Save a preset from the Terrain tab, drop it into config/ultraterraforged/modpack-presets/, and select it as the default in config/ultraterraforged/modpack.json. Players keep the freedom to switch presets, edit settings and save their own.

Performance and Compatibility

The Terrain tab recommends performance mods and shows which are installed: C2ME, Noisium or Noisiumed, Lithium with Radium or Canary on Forge, ModernFix, AllTheLeaks and Sodium or Embeddium. With them, UltraTerraForged generates new land as fast as vanilla or faster. Rock shelters no longer recompute terrain for every surrounding block, which can speed up chunk generation by up to a third in badlands and plateaus.

The mod also fixes a long list of inherited problems: rivers generating before terrain, missing cave and structure settings, presets losing their scales, locate commands sending players to random spots, bare rock across every sea floor, chunk generation crashes, and a Forge startup crash caused by bundled MixinExtras.

Final Thoughts

UltraTerraForged stands on years of work by the TerraForged and ReTerraForged teams, and it credits them openly. What it adds is polish, reach and momentum. If you want continents, rivers and coastlines that reward exploration, download UltraTerraForged for Minecraft, pick a preset, and watch the live map build a world before you ever press play.
