The Beginning: A Bold New Dimension for Minecraft

Most add-ons tinker around the edges of the vanilla experience, adding a sword here or a mob there. The Beginning takes a different approach. It reshapes the Overworld with rare structures, introduces a brand-new dimension, and gives you a genuine endgame goal to chase. Whether you are a builder, an explorer, or a redstone tinkerer, this mod packs enough content to keep your world fresh for dozens of hours.

What The Beginning Adds to the Overworld

The first thing you will notice is the Bedrock Temple, a structure that spawns on top of the ocean. It is extremely rare, so finding one feels like a genuine event. Inside, you will discover a very powerful Pickaxe and an Ender Chest. There is a catch, though: the doorways are sealed with obsidian, and you will need to break through before you can claim the rewards.

Scattered across the map are Stone Huts. These small shelters contain a smoker, furnace, blast furnace, bed, and a chest with assorted loot. They spawn in most vanilla biomes but will not appear in modded biomes, which keeps them predictable without making them boring.

Hardened Obsidian and the Bedrock Block

Crafting gets a serious upgrade here. Hardened Obsidian is made from 4 obsidian, 4 crying obsidian, and an End Crystal. It can only be broken with a Netherite Pickaxe, so treat it as a late-game material. Combine Hardened Obsidian with 8 stone, and you can craft a single Bedrock block.

Entering The Beginning Dimension

The centerpiece of the mod is a new dimension called The Beginning. You reach it through a Nether-style portal built from Bedrock. To light it, craft a Young Portal Igniter from a flint and steel plus a block of obsidian. Once active, the portal opens onto a realm with its own rules.

Ores in this dimension drop ingots instead of ore blocks, which saves you smelting time. There is also a unique ore called Hardened Obsidian Ore that requires a Netherite Pickaxe or better to mine. Smelting it yields a large amount of experience and a Hardened Obsidian Chunk. Collect nine chunks to craft a Hardened Obsidian Block.

Young Wood Logs round out the building options, letting you craft planks, slabs, stairs, fences, and fence gates. Doors are planned for a future update. There is also a secret crafting recipe involving a Netherite Chestplate that the developer has deliberately left for players to discover.

Important Disclaimer

You cannot break Bedrock in the current version. The developer has hinted that a future tool may allow it, but for now, plan your builds accordingly.

Version Support and Installation

Before you download The Beginning, check which Minecraft version you are running. The mod targets modern releases and is distributed for the Fabric and Forge loaders, so make sure you grab the build that matches your setup. Installing it is straightforward: drop the file into your mods folder, launch the game with the correct loader profile, and start a fresh world to see the new structures generate.

If you want a smoother setup, the foxygame.net launcher handles The Beginning alongside hundreds of other add-ons, letting you install everything in a single click without manually sorting loader versions. Players who prefer managing their own files can still follow the standard how to install process, but the launcher removes most of the guesswork.

Final Thoughts

The Beginning is not a small quality-of-life tweak. It is a full content expansion with a rare Overworld structure, a new dimension, unique ores, and a secret recipe that rewards curiosity. The Bedrock portal mechanic gives you a clear long-term objective, while the Stone Huts and Bedrock Temple add reasons to keep exploring. If you enjoy mods that respect vanilla balance while pushing into new territory, this one deserves a spot in your load order.
