Rustic Regenerated: A Rural Medieval Overhaul for Minecraft
If you have ever wanted your Minecraft world to feel less like a survival grind and more like a living countryside, Rustic Regenerated is the add-on you have been waiting for. This project is a partial port of CadaverousEris's beloved Rustic mod, originally built for Minecraft 1.12, now rebuilt for Minecraft 1.17 with plenty of fresh content and thoughtful changes along the way. The mod focuses on rural, medieval themed additions that blend naturally with vanilla progression, so nothing feels out of place in your world.
What Rustic Regenerated Adds to Your World
The core philosophy here is simple: expand the countryside without breaking the vanilla feel. Every recipe unlocks in the recipe book once you obtain its main component, just like standard Minecraft recipes, so new players are never left guessing.
Apple Trees and Orchards
Apple trees are grown from apple seeds, which you can craft from ordinary apples. Depending on your config settings, these trees produce a mix of oak and apple leaves. Apple leaves can be harvested by right clicking, with a configurable chance of dropping golden apples. Break the leaves and you may get apple saplings in return. You can grow them as 1x1 or 2x2 trees, and they spawn naturally in apple orchard, medium apple orchard, and mega apple orchard biomes.
Great Oaks and Grand Birches
Plant vanilla saplings in a 2x2 pattern to grow great oak and grand birch trees, or find them in the great oak forest and grand birch forest biomes. Great oaks feature significantly increased leaf decay distance, making them ideal centerpieces for a sprawling rural build.
Crossed Logs, Stakes, and Decorative Blocks
Crossed logs are crafted from sticks, planks, stakes, or logs. They resemble a campfire with evenly spaced logs and no ash, and they function like slabs. You can combine them with stakes and choose between normal and vertical varieties. Stakes themselves are crafted from sticks, planks, or logs, and can be placed along any axis.
Rooted dirt is easy to make: combine four dirt blocks and five hanging roots in a checkerboard pattern to receive five rooted dirt. You can also right click fences, walls, lanterns, chains, stairs, slabs, scaffolding, crossed logs, and stakes to cover them with leaves for that overgrown, lived-in look. Since leaves do not cover full block sides, your roof decorations will not show through the interior.
Apple Cores and Future Plans
Eating an apple leaves behind an apple core, which can be composted, crafted into seeds, or used as decoration for a pig sty. Looking ahead, the developer plans 3x3 oak and dark oak trees, possibly 2x2 acacia and 3x3 spruce, plus chilis that grow on stakes, hanging vegetables, charcoal piles, pickling and canning jars, and a drying rack. Chilis will be edible raw, usable in bowls of chili with steak, and craftable into golden chilis that grant fire resistance at the cost of a little damage and a brief burn. Golden chilis may even tame blazes, though overworld blazes will need regular chilis to avoid hibernation.
Supported Versions and Loader
Rustic Regenerated targets Minecraft 1.17 and is built for the Forge mod loader. The author has expressed interest in a Fabric port eventually, but there are no plans to backport to earlier Minecraft versions. Other modders are welcome to attempt it, though they should seek permission from CadaverousEris before reusing Rustic assets.
How to Install Rustic Regenerated for Minecraft
Getting started is straightforward. First, confirm you are running Minecraft 1.17 with a compatible Forge installation. Then follow these steps:
- Obtain the Rustic Regenerated mod file from a trusted source.
- Locate your Minecraft mods folder.
- Place the mod file inside the mods folder.
- Launch Minecraft using the Forge profile.
- Verify the mod loads correctly in the main menu.
If you would rather skip the manual steps, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install for Rustic Regenerated, handling version matching and dependency checks automatically so you can jump straight into building your orchard. When you download Rustic Regenerated, always check that the file version matches your installed Minecraft release to avoid crashes on startup.
Why Rustic Regenerated Belongs in Your Modpack
Rustic Regenerated fills a niche that few mods handle well: it makes the quiet, rural side of Minecraft just as rich as the combat and tech sides. Between apple orchards, crossed log fences, leaf-covered lanterns, and the promise of chilis and pickling jars, there is a clear vision of a cozier, more medieval world. The mod also credits a dedicated team, including CadaverousEris for the original assets, EpicNecromancer for modelling, Commoble for code support, Aestate Cactus for configs, Gigaherz for dynamic baked models, and Ironsnake345 for getting the project off the ground.
Whether you are a builder chasing that overgrown cottage aesthetic or a farmer planning a sprawling apple orchard, Rustic Regenerated delivers content that feels native to Minecraft while pushing your countryside creations further than vanilla ever could. Install it, plant your first apple seed, and watch your world grow.
