Quantus: A Minecraft Modpack Built Around Eight Eras of Progression
Most modpacks hand you everything at once and let you drown in options. Quantus takes the opposite approach. This pack locks its mods behind eight sequential Eras, forcing you to master each stage of technology before the next one opens up. The result is a long, structured journey that starts with a coal-powered shack and ends with a fleet of rockets leaving the Overworld behind.
What Makes Quantus Different
The core idea behind Quantus is simple: more advanced mods that could automate basic tasks are not available until you have earned them. You begin in the Coal Era, where the focus is on building a solid base, mining resources, and poking around the Nether. ArchitectureCraft, Chisel, Chisels and Bits, Quark, Pam's HarvestCraft, and JourneyMap are all available here, so early building and decoration stay fun rather than grindy.
From there, the Iron Era introduces ore doubling, better tools, and item transport through Hopper Ducts, along with Iron Chests, Storage Drawers, and Tinkers Construct. The Magic Era follows, letting you choose a path as a Druid or a Dark Mage with Botania, Blood Magic, Roots, Psi, and EvilCraft. The Steel Era brings Railcraft and Immersive Engineering, the Tech Era opens RFTools and Extra Utilities, and the Industrial Era delivers Ender IO, Industrial Craft, and TechReborn.
Late-Game Eras and Endgame Goals
Silicon and Space
The Silicon Era centers on robotics and computing with Applied Energistics 2, Draconic Evolution, QuantumFlux, and QuantumStorage. Finally, the Space Era unlocks Advanced Rocketry and Calculator, sending you off to other planets to expand your empire across the galaxy.
Recipe Exceptions
Not everything is locked. A set of recipes stays available from the start to keep building enjoyable, including the Actually Additions Crafting Table on a Stick, Extra Utilities Sound Muffler and Magical Wood, Immersive Engineering concrete and treated wood, the Tinkers Construct Crafting Station, and Botania's Mortar and Pestle, Petal, and Dye recipes.
How to Advance an Era
Eras are locked through Minetweaker scripts. Inside your Quantus modpack folder you will find a scripts directory containing files named with the pattern Era-Name-Mod. To move forward, delete the scripts belonging to the Era you are leaving. Going from Coal to Iron means removing every file starting with 1-coal, such as 1-coal-hopperducts.zs or 1-coal-tconstruct.zs. On a server, only the administrator needs to make these changes.
How to Install Quantus for Minecraft
Quantus targets Minecraft 1.10.2 and runs on the Forge loader, so make sure you have the correct Forge version installed before launching. If you want a smoother setup, the foxygame.net launcher offers a one-click install for Quantus, pulling the correct pack build and its matching Forge version automatically so nothing is mismatched.
- Install Forge using the version listed in your launcher when the Quantus pack is selected.
- Open the Quantus instance folder and locate the config, mods, and scripts directories.
- For servers, copy those three folders to your server directory. No server files are needed beyond that.
- Launch the game and start your Coal Era playthrough.
Final Thoughts
Quantus rewards patience. By gating mods behind Eras, it turns a sprawling modded experience into a clear, achievable roadmap where every unlock feels earned. Whether you download Quantus for a solo world or a community server, expect dozens of hours of structured progression from your first coal lump to your first rocket launch.
