Quantum Sorter
Tired of stuffing items into chests by hand and losing track of where everything went? The Quantum Sorter is a Minecraft mod that turns chaotic storage rooms into fully automated sorting systems. Instead of running between chests, you build a network that pulls, routes, and delivers items exactly where you want them, no matter how large your base grows.
What the Quantum Sorter Adds
The mod introduces three core items that work together as one system:
- Quantum Sorter – the brain of the network, which transmits items over distance and manages routing rules.
- Network Linker – the tool used to connect a sorter to its receivers.
- Network Relay – the receiver that deposits items into chests and other inventories.
The Quantum Sorter accepts items inserted manually or through a hopper, and it can also pull directly from chests and other blocks. It draws from output slots, which means it can collect results from furnaces and send them onward automatically. Both whitelist and blacklist functions are available, and the device supports six channels that receivers can be connected to.
How the Sorting Network Works
Linking Sorters and Relays
To connect the sorter to a receiver, right-click the Quantum Sorter while holding the Network Linker to capture its ID, then walk to the desired Network Relay and right-click it. You receive a notification confirming whether the connection succeeded, and using the tool again disconnects that specific receiver. Clicking the Sorter Linker on another Quantum Sorter assigns it a new sorter ID.
The Network Relay acts as the receiving end. Place its front face against a chest or another block with an inventory, and it deposits the items designated by the sorter. A two-color LED glows in the dark to show whether the relay is currently connected. You can also right-click a relay without holding the Network Linker to check which sorter and channel it belongs to.
Channel Priority and Blacklists
The sorter processes channels in a fixed priority order: CH1, then CH2, and so on through CH6. For every item being sent, it checks whether delivery to CH1 is possible, and if not, it moves to the next channel. This makes it easy to build a massive network. Assign five channels to five specific chests or receivers, then use the sixth channel as a blacklist that routes all remaining items to a subsequent sorter, which repeats the process. Drop items into a single chest or hopper and watch them spread across your entire base and world. Distance is not an issue.
Supported Versions and Loaders
Quantum Sorter for Minecraft is available for modern releases of the game, with builds targeting both Fabric and NeoForge so you can keep your existing modpack intact. Before you download Quantum Sorter, double-check that the file matches your Minecraft version and loader, since mismatched builds simply will not load. If you want to skip manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles Quantum Sorter through its add-on catalog, installing and updating it in one click while automatically matching the correct version for your setup.
How to Install Quantum Sorter
Getting the mod running takes only a few minutes:
- Install a compatible mod loader such as Fabric or NeoForge for your Minecraft version.
- Place the Quantum Sorter mod file into your mods folder.
- Launch the game and confirm the mod appears in your mod list.
- Craft the sorter, linker, and relay, then build your first sorting line.
Once installed, start small: one sorter, one relay, and a single chest. Test the connection with the Network Linker, then expand into multiple channels as your storage needs grow.
Final Thoughts
The Quantum Sorter solves one of the oldest problems in Minecraft: item management. Its channel system, whitelist and blacklist options, and long-range relays make it flexible enough for a starter base or a sprawling industrial complex. Set up your network once, and your chests will stay organized forever.
