Quadra Gen
Most Minecraft worlds follow one simple rule: the terrain you get is the terrain you keep. A dimension is either natural, superflat, or something custom, and that choice applies everywhere. Quadra Gen breaks that rule in the most useful way possible. This Fabric mod lets a single dimension run four different terrain-generation setups at once, one per quadrant, so a creative server can offer a flat build zone, a void area, and untouched vanilla landscape without juggling separate worlds.
What Quadra Gen Actually Does
Quadra Gen divides a dimension into four quadrants along the X and Z axes. Each quadrant gets its own generation logic, configured independently. With the default setup, the +X/+Z quadrant is flat void, the +X/-Z quadrant is a single layer of white stained glass with plains or nether wastes biomes, the -X/+Z quadrant keeps vanilla biome and structure data but generates no blocks or entities, and the -X/-Z quadrant produces normal natural terrain for the current dimension.
That last point matters for builders. The Overworld and the Nether each have their own independent settings, so you can run a flat Nether hub next to a fully natural Nether region. The End and any custom dimensions are left untouched by the mod.
Why the "Noise Clear" Mode Is the Hidden Gem
The quadrant that keeps biomes, theoretical terrain, and structure data while generating nothing is easy to overlook. In practice, it gives you an empty canvas that still respects vanilla biome placement and structure boundaries. Map makers and server admins use it for staging areas, minigame arenas, or terrain that gets filled in later by WorldEdit or a datapack.
Supported Minecraft Versions and Loader
Quadra Gen is built for Fabric and requires no extra dependencies, which keeps the install clean. Supported Minecraft versions span a wide range, including 1.14.4, 1.15.2, 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.1, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.8, 1.21.10, and 1.21.11, along with newer 26.x releases. That range covers everything from legacy survival servers to the latest snapshots of modern Minecraft.
If you would rather skip manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process for you: it lists Quadra Gen in its add-on catalog, installs it with a single click, and keeps it updated whenever a new build drops for your chosen Minecraft version.
How to Install Quadra Gen
Server-side installation is the standard route, and clients do not need the mod to join. Installing it on the client side simply improves visual details such as horizon height.
- Download Quadra Gen for Minecraft and place the jar file in your server's mods folder.
- If you want a custom quadrant layout, edit config/quadragen/config.json before creating the world.
- If no config file exists, Quadra Gen copies its bundled default configuration into place and enables it automatically.
- Start the server, create the world, and each quadrant will generate according to your settings.
Save Compatibility and Safety
Quadra Gen does not modify the save format, so worlds it touches stay fully vanilla-compatible. Enabling the mod on an existing world only affects newly generated chunks; finished chunks are never rebuilt, cleared, or converted. Removing the mod later leaves everything readable. The one caveat is that vanilla Flat saves are not supported, so convert the underlying world type to Noise first if you need to.
In-Game Behavior Worth Knowing
All four quadrants share a single dimension state. Time, weather, game rules, and the mob cap apply across the whole dimension, and the axes are generation boundaries only, not gameplay walls. Entities, fluids, and redstone cross freely between quadrants. Vanilla structures and decoration can also spill a limited distance past an axis, and flat quadrants never generate structures or lakes.
Final Thoughts
Quadra Gen solves a problem most creative servers quietly live with: too many worlds for too few terrain styles. By packing four generation modes into one dimension with independent Overworld and Nether settings, it cuts down on world management while giving builders flat ground, void space, and natural landscape side by side. Just remember to back up your save before changing the configuration, and you are ready to build across all four quadrants.
