PPs Gore

Combat in Minecraft has always been a numbers game: swing a sword, watch a health bar shrink, collect the loot. PPs Gore throws that abstraction out the window and replaces it with something far more visceral. This add-on introduces a localized voxel damage system inspired by Teardown, where every hit carves into a mob's actual body rather than subtracting from an invisible pool of hit points. If you have ever wanted Minecraft combat to feel physical, messy, and genuinely consequential, this is the mod that delivers it.

What Makes PPs Gore Different

Instead of treating a zombie as a single object with 20 health, PPs Gore models its anatomy in voxels. Destroyed surfaces expose procedurally textured flesh, and deeper cuts reveal what lies beneath: bone, a skull shell around the brain, a spine with ribs in the torso, and a central bone running through each limb. Damage is tracked per location, so a slash to the shoulder is not the same as a stab to the chest.

After every wound, a connectivity check runs across the body. If the voxels linking a limb to the torso are gone, that piece detaches and falls to the ground as a physical entity. It bleeds, it persists, and it eventually despawns according to a timer you can adjust in the settings. Sever an arm and the mob loses access to it entirely, which opens up tactical possibilities that vanilla combat simply cannot offer.

Anatomy and Severing

  • Localized voxel damage replaces standard health tracking.
  • Layered anatomy: flesh, bone, skull, spine, ribs, and limb cores.
  • Severed parts become physical entities that bleed and despawn over time.
  • Axes create vertical cleaving wounds rather than round puncture holes.
  • Intact corpses remain on the ground after death, keeping every wound and staying destructible.

First Aid and Survival

Wounds are not purely cosmetic. Shallow cuts can be treated with a craftable Flesh Salve made from paper, a slime ball, and sugar, which regrows damaged tissue faster than natural healing. Paper bandages stop bleeding on the spot. Ignore a serious injury for too long, though, and the damage becomes lethal, at which point you simply have to die like anyone else.

Disabilities carry over to players as well. Lose a hand and you immediately drop whatever was equipped in that slot, which turns every close call into a real risk. Explosions, crushing falls, arrows, swords, and tools all produce distinct wound patterns, so the cause of death genuinely matters.

Supported Versions and Loaders

PPs Gore is built for modern Minecraft releases on the Fabric loader, and the developer has focused on keeping the mod functional across recent 1.20.x and 1.21.x builds. Because the project is maintained casually, checking the current release notes before you download PPs Gore is always worthwhile, especially if you run a heavily modded pack.

If you would rather skip manual file management entirely, the foxygame.net launcher bundles PPs Gore directly into its add-on catalog, letting you install it alongside matching loader versions with a single click and receive automatic updates whenever the author ships a fix.

Mod Compatibility

One of the smartest additions in recent releases is an automatic detection system for modded weapons. By default, attacking any supported mob with a modded weapon teaches the system to recognize that weapon's damage type, so you no longer need the author to hand-code support for every new gun or blade. The settings menu, opened with CTRL + G in-game, lets you fine-tune damage types manually if the automatic pass misses something.

Mob compatibility remains the harder problem. Custom mobs that reuse vanilla models sometimes work but may show missing textures, while mobs with entirely unique models generally will not function at all. For that reason, custom mob support is not recommended yet. TACZ Guns, Fresh Animations, and popular resource pack skins are known to play nicely with the system.

Performance and Multiplayer

Killing large groups produces a lot of corpses and severed parts, which can drag down frame rates. Lowering the despawn timer or capping the maximum body count in the settings solves most of it. The mod also works in multiplayer, making gladiator-style PVP servers a natural fit.

How to Install

  • Install the Fabric loader for your Minecraft version.
  • Place the PPs Gore jar file into your mods folder.
  • Launch the game and press CTRL + G to open the configuration menu.
  • Adjust despawn timers, armor options, and damage values to taste.

PPs Gore is unbalanced by design and not intended for standard survival playthroughs, though nothing stops you from trying. What it offers is a combat sandbox where anatomy, physics, and consequence all matter. For players tired of watching health bars drain, that trade is more than worth it.
