Potions Plus [FORGE]
Brewing in Minecraft has always been a bit limited. Once you have mastered the handful of vanilla recipes, there is not much left to discover. Potions Plus [FORGE] changes that completely. What began as a small experiment with MCreator has grown into a full expansion that adds dozens of potions, new blocks, magical materials, food, and even a brand new biome to explore.
What Potions Plus [FORGE] Adds to Minecraft
The core of this mod is, of course, potions. Every new brew has a splash, lingering, and arrow equivalent, and all of them are made in a normal brewing stand, so the learning curve stays friendly. The recipes are intuitive and often thematic. For example, the Potion of Heroism grants Hero of the Village for three minutes and is brewed from an awkward potion and an emerald, while the Potion of Aquaman uses a Heart of the Sea to give you Dolphin's Grace. There are also risky brews like Alcohol, which inflicts Nausea, and the Potion of Starvation, which applies a strong Hunger effect. If you want to know exactly what every potion does, grabbing JEI is strongly recommended, since the mod's content is simply too large to list in one place.
New Blocks and Ore Processing
Potions Plus [FORGE] for Minecraft does not stop at brewing. The Fluid Fractor breaks down fluids and less viscous materials, though water buckets have no use in it. The Magic Ore Crusher uses Magic Gems and Dust to process ores, turning a single ore into two pieces of dust that can then be smelted into ingots. It works on iron, gold, and copper chunks as well as emerald and diamond ore. Crafting recipes have been expanded too: a lava bucket plus a water bucket in a crafting table yields obsidian, surrounding that obsidian with a water bucket gives crying obsidian, and smelting quartz produces quartz glass.
Magic Materials, Food, and Gear
Mining in the right places rewards you with Magic Ore, which drops Magic Gems. These gems are fire immune and can be crafted into tools, armor, and blocks. Ore dust comes in iron, copper, gold, emerald, and diamond varieties. On the food side, the Imbued Apple grants potion effects and can be eaten at any time, while the Milk Bottle and Imbued Milk both remove potion effects. Imbued Wheat, together with wheat and imbued apples, lets you breed Magic Moos. The Bag serves as portable storage, Magic Armor provides passive healing that amplifies with each piece worn, and the Imbued Fire Staff uses Imbued Coal as ammo to hurl exploding fireballs.
Supported Versions and How to Install
Potions Plus [FORGE] is built for the Forge mod loader, which means you will need a matching Forge installation before anything else. Supported Minecraft versions are listed on the mod's download page, so check that your game build lines up with the file you grab. If you are unsure where to start, the foxygame.net launcher takes the guesswork out of the process: it detects your installed Minecraft version and offers a one-click install of Potions Plus [FORGE] directly from its add-on catalog, then keeps it updated automatically whenever a new build appears.
To install manually, follow these steps:
- Install the correct version of Forge for your Minecraft release.
- Download Potions Plus [FORGE] from a trusted source and place the .jar file in your mods folder.
- Launch the Forge profile once so the game generates the config files.
- Start a world and type /ppdebug to receive a sample set of items from the mod.
Exploring the Magic Lands
No tour of this mod would be complete without mentioning the Magic Lands, a eerie forest biome filled with mysteries and home to the Magic Moo. This magical cow drops Magic Gems on death, making it a valuable target for anyone building out their gear. Between the biome, the entities, and the sheer volume of brewing options, there is more than enough here to keep a survival world interesting for many hours.
If you enjoy brewing, ore processing, or simply want more reasons to explore, Potions Plus [FORGE] is well worth adding to your load order. Just remember to report any bugs you find, since the developer actively welcomes feedback. Grab JEI, brew your first Potion of Heroism, and see where the Magic Lands take you.
