PipezRetriever
If you have ever built a sprawling storage room in Minecraft and wished your pipes could work in reverse, PipezRetriever is the add-on you have been waiting for. This compact mod extends the popular Pipez logistics system with a single, powerful feature: Retrieve Mode. Instead of pushing resources out of a source block, your pipes can now pull items, fluids, energy, and even gases from any connected inventory straight into the destination you choose. It is a small change on paper, but it reshapes how you design automation across your entire world.
What PipezRetriever Actually Does
Pipez has always followed a straightforward logic: a pipe attached to a chest, tank, or machine extracts resources from that block and pushes them to wherever the pipe leads. PipezRetriever flips that relationship on demand. When you enable Retrieve Mode on a pipe, it stops acting as a sender and starts acting as a receiver, drawing resources out of every connected inventory and funneling them into the block the pipe is anchored to.
This matters most in setups where the "source" is actually the place you want things to end up. Think of a central processing hub that should collect output from a dozen scattered machines, or an energy buffer that needs to absorb power from multiple generators rather than broadcast it. With Retrieve Mode, you no longer need complicated workarounds, extra pipes, or a tangle of one-way routing tricks.
Retrieve Mode Toggle and Configuration
How the Toggle Works
Switching modes takes seconds. Open the pipe configuration interface and look at the top-left corner, where PipezRetriever adds a dedicated Extract/Retrieve button. The two states behave as follows:
- Extract Mode (default): Pushes items, fluids, or energy from the source block to every connected destination, exactly like vanilla Pipez.
- Retrieve Mode: Pulls items, fluids, or energy from connected destinations into the source block.
Because the button lives inside the existing UI, you do not need to relearn any menus. If you already know how to configure a Pipez pipe, you already know how to use PipezRetriever.
Full Configuration Support
Retrieve Mode is not a stripped-down gimmick. Every existing Pipez configuration option continues to work while the mode is active, including filters, whitelists and blacklists, redstone control, distribution logic, and rate limits. That means you can build a retrieval line that only accepts specific items, responds to a redstone signal, or splits incoming resources evenly across several targets. The add-on layers cleanly on top of the original mod rather than replacing its behavior.
Supported Pipe Types
PipezRetriever covers the full Pipez family, so no pipe type is left behind:
- Item Pipes
- Fluid Pipes
- Energy Pipes
- Gas Pipes, which require Mekanism to be installed
- Universal Pipes
Gas Pipe support is the one piece that depends on an optional mod. If Mekanism is present, Retrieve Mode works for gases just like it does for everything else. Without Mekanism, the other four pipe types function normally.
Minecraft Versions and Loader Requirements
PipezRetriever is built for NeoForge, so you will need a NeoForge profile rather than Forge or Fabric. The mod currently targets Minecraft 1.21.1 alongside NeoForge 21.1.77 or newer and Pipez 1.21.1-1.2.19 or newer. Additional builds cover Minecraft 26.1.2 with NeoForge 26.1.2.109 and Pipez 1.2.31+26.1.2, as well as Minecraft 26.2 and above with NeoForge 26.2.0.59 and Pipez 1.2.31+26.2. Always match the add-on version to your game version, since a mismatched pair is the most common cause of a failed launch.
How to Install PipezRetriever
Getting the add-on running is a short process:
- Install NeoForge for your chosen Minecraft version.
- Place the Pipez jar and the PipezRetriever jar together in your mods folder.
- Add Mekanism only if you want Gas Pipe retrieve support.
- Launch the game and confirm both mods appear in the mod list.
If you would rather skip manual file management, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole chain for you: it detects your installed Minecraft version, matches a compatible PipezRetriever build automatically, and keeps the add-on updated between sessions so you never launch into a version conflict.
Why Retrieve Mode Changes Your Builds
Most automation problems in Minecraft come down to direction. Resources need to move the right way, at the right time, without leaking into the wrong container. PipezRetriever gives you a second direction to work with, and that single extra option removes entire categories of awkward builds. Central collection hubs become trivial. Multi-source energy banks become clean. Machine clusters that previously needed a dedicated output pipe per machine can now feed a single retrieval line.
When you are ready to download PipezRetriever for Minecraft, check that your NeoForge and Pipez versions line up with the release you pick, drop the files into your mods folder, and start experimenting. Once Retrieve Mode is part of your toolkit, going back to push-only logistics feels like building with one hand tied behind your back.
