Pikup

Minecraft is a game of rapid decisions. You break a block, a skeleton drops an arrow, a creeper explodes and leaves behind gunpowder. In the heat of the moment, you often walk over loot without a second thought. Then, later, you open your inventory and wonder where that enchanted bow went. The chat log is too slow, and scrolling through four rows of items is a chore. This is where Pikup for Minecraft changes everything. It puts a clear, readable notification right in the corner of your screen the instant you pick something up.

What Does Pikup Do?

Pikup is a client-side mod that displays a small, sliding line in a corner of your screen every time you collect an item. The line shows the item's icon, the quantity you picked up, and its name, all colored by its rarity. It uses the same four colors as Minecraft's tooltips: white for common, yellow for uncommon, aqua for rare, and light purple for epic. This means a rare drop like an Enchanted Golden Apple stands out immediately, even in the middle of a chaotic fight.

Beyond the notification, Pikup drops a small, pulsing badge on the exact inventory slot where the new item landed. This works on your hotbar, your offhand slot, and inside every container screen, including chests and shulker boxes. You will never again have to hunt through your inventory to find where that one piece of diamond armor went.

Notification Features

The notification system is designed to be informative without being overwhelming. You can customize almost every aspect of it.

  • Item Details: See the icon, count, and name on one line.
  • Rarity Colouring: Choose between the default Minecraft rarity colors or a single flat color.
  • Merging: Picking up seventeen cobblestone in a row results in one tidy "+17 Cobblestone" line, not seventeen separate notifications.
  • Animation: Lines slide in smoothly and fade out gently.
  • Positioning: Select from 8 anchor positions, including all four corners, top and bottom center, and left/right middle.
  • Count Layout: Display counts as "+3 Diamond," "Diamond x3," or just the name.

Custom Fonts and Display

Pikup lets you draw pickup lines in any TrueType font installed on your computer. It reads your Windows Fonts folder, or you can drop .ttf files into a pikup-fonts folder to skip installing them. The dropdown list shows fonts by their real names, like "Arial Bold," rather than file names like arialbd.ttf. You can adjust size, smoothing, and nudge controls to align the text perfectly with the rest of your HUD. If a font is missing a character, it falls back to Minecraft's font, so item names never turn into empty boxes. Switching fonts is instant, with no resource reload or game restart required.

Slot Markers and Configuration

The slot marker is a key feature that sets Pikup apart from simpler pickup notification mods. It places a badge on the exact slot where your new item went, making it easy to find and use. You can choose from five shapes: Star, Dot, Ring, Exclamation, and Arrow. The badge can be placed in any of the four slot corners, colored by rarity or a custom color, and features a dark outline for readability on bright items. It clears itself when you hover over the slot or start using the stack.

All of these features are fully configurable. If you have Mod Menu installed, you can open the settings screen in-game and find five tabs:

  • General: Master toggle, what to notify about, display time, fade time, max lines, merging, and hiding while chatting or with F3.
  • Position & Size: Screen corner, X/Y offset, scale (25% to 400%), line spacing, and newest-first ordering.
  • Appearance: Rarity colouring, custom colours, text shadow, item icon, count layout, background box, and slide animation.
  • Slot Marker: Enable, duration (1-600 seconds), shape, slot corner, size, colour, outline, pulse, fade, and hotbar/inventory toggles.
  • Filters: Blacklist or whitelist by item ID, and set a minimum stack size.

Prefer editing files? All settings are stored in plain JSON in config/pikup.json. There are also optional extras, off by default, such as showing items leaving your inventory or experience orbs collected.

Compatibility and Versions

Pikup is client-side only, meaning it changes nothing about the game world. It works on any server, including vanilla ones, with nothing to install server-side. It is allowed on servers that permit cosmetic client mods and will not affect your world, saves, or anyone else's game. The mod is available for several Minecraft versions, with the latest versions offering all features. For older versions like 1.19, you get notifications and slot badges, but with an older render path. For a seamless experience, many players use the foxygame.net launcher, which offers a one-click install for Pikup and automatically handles version compatibility, so you can jump straight into the game without manual mod management.

Why It Doesn't Spam You

Many pickup mods simply watch your inventory for changes, which means they fire every time you craft something, pull items out of a chest, or a hopper feeds you. Pikup is different. It reads the actual item pickup packet, the same signal that plays the pickup sound. This ensures a line only appears for things you genuinely picked up off the ground. The inventory is still checked once a tick, but only to work out which slot the pickup landed in, so the badges never end up on stacks you moved yourself.

How to Install Pikup

Installing Pikup is straightforward. First, ensure you have Fabric API and Cloth Config installed. If you want the in-game settings screen, add Mod Menu as well. Then, download Pikup and place the jar file into your mods folder. Launch the game and pick something up to see it in action. For those who prefer a more automated approach, the foxygame.net launcher includes a catalog of add-ons where you can find Pikup and install it with a single click, ensuring you always have the correct version for your game build.

With Pikup, you can focus on the action, knowing that every rare drop will be announced clearly and marked precisely. It is an essential tool for anyone who mines, fights, and loots at a fast pace, turning inventory management from a chore into a seamless part of the game.
