Oh My Sherd: Expand Your Minecraft Archaeology Collection

Archaeology in Minecraft gave players a brand new reason to dig through suspicious sand and gravel, but the vanilla sherd selection is limited. The Oh My Sherd add-on changes that by introducing fresh pottery patterns that slot naturally into the existing system. Whether you are decorating a base, hunting rare loot, or completing a collection, this mod gives you more to uncover.

What Does Oh My Sherd Add?

This mod introduces a variety of new pottery sherds that integrate seamlessly with both vanilla sherds and sherds from other mods. That compatibility matters, because it means you can mix and match patterns on decorated pots without worrying about conflicts or missing textures.

The headline addition is the Remains Sherd, which features a cartoonish skull design. Finding it is not as simple as brushing any patch of gravel you stumble across. These sherds are buried in suspicious gravel that generates on the floor of skeleton monster spawners, turning an ordinary mob farm into a genuine archaeological site.

Loot Inside Skeleton Spawners

When you locate a skeleton spawner and start brushing, the loot table offers more than just the Remains Sherd. You can also uncover the vanilla skull sherd, bones, skeleton skulls, and, if you are very lucky, wither skulls. One suspicious gravel block always generates directly below the spawner, and up to five additional gravel blocks can spawn embedded in the nearby floor. That means a single spawner can hold a small treasure trove for patient archaeologists.

  • Remains Sherd with a cartoonish skull motif
  • Vanilla skull sherd as a bonus find
  • Bones and skeleton skulls
  • Rare wither skulls for lucky diggers

Supported Versions and Loaders

Oh My Sherd for Minecraft is built for modern versions of the game where archaeology is part of the core experience, and it is distributed as a Fabric mod. If you are running a Fabric profile on a recent Minecraft release, you should have no trouble getting it running alongside your other add-ons.

If you would rather skip manual file management entirely, the foxygame.net launcher handles the whole process in a single click, placing Oh My Sherd directly into a compatible profile without any folder digging on your part.

How to Install Oh My Sherd

Getting started is straightforward. Follow these steps and you will be brushing gravel in no time.

  • Make sure Fabric Loader is installed for your Minecraft version.
  • Download Oh My Sherd from the official project page.
  • Place the mod file into your mods folder.
  • Launch the game using your Fabric profile.
  • Find a skeleton spawner and start brushing the gravel beneath it.

If you already run other archaeology-themed mods, load order is rarely an issue here. The mod is designed to coexist with vanilla content and third-party sherd packs, so your decorated pots will display every pattern correctly.

Future Content on the Way

This project is actively developed, and the roadmap is promising. The snip and invader sherds are already implemented, though for now they can only be obtained with the give command. A proper survival method for finding these patterns is planned for a future update, along with even more designs to uncover. Later releases will also add support for popular companion mods such as Sherd Duplication and Archaeology Banners.

Because the mod is still growing, keeping it updated matters. A launcher that pushes automatic updates for Oh My Sherd saves you from manually checking for new builds every time the developer ships a patch or a fresh sherd pattern.

Why It Fits Your World

Archaeology rewards exploration, and Oh My Sherd gives that loop more depth without overhauling the game. The spawner-based loot table encourages players to revisit structures they might otherwise ignore, and the rare wither skull drop adds a genuine thrill to every brushing session. Decorated pots become a real display of achievement rather than a minor side activity.

If you enjoy collection mechanics, base decoration, or simply want more reasons to explore caves and dungeons, this add-on earns its place in your mod list. Install it, track down a skeleton spawner, and see which sherds you can pull from the gravel.
