Supercharge Your Automation with the Blocks Tickrate Booster Mod
Every seasoned Minecraft player knows the frustration of waiting for furnaces to smelt stacks of ore or watching a modded machine crawl through its processing cycle. The Blocks Tickrate Booster mod steps in as the ultimate solution, letting you accelerate block entities without breaking your server’s performance. Instead of mindlessly spamming more machines, you can now use configurable boosters that respect server TPS and give you fine-grained control over speed versus energy cost.
How Tickrate Boosting Works
In vanilla Minecraft, block entities like furnaces, brewing stands, and many modded machines tick at a fixed rate. The Blocks Tickrate Booster mod intercepts this cycle and multiplies the number of operations per tick, effectively speeding up processing. Each booster consumes Forge Energy (FE) per tick, and the higher the tier, the faster the boost—and the steeper the energy draw. A special Mana Booster variant uses Botania’s Mana instead, adding a magical twist for those who prefer floral power over industrial cables.
Booster Tiers and Recipes
The mod offers four distinct booster types, each with its own crafting recipe and performance profile. All recipes require a clock, emeralds, and redstone dust as core components, scaled up with progressively rarer metals.
Tier 1 Booster
- Boost Rate: 2x speed (configurable)
- Energy Cost: 5,000 FE/tick (configurable)
- Range: 2 blocks above and below
- Recipe: Iron Ingots + Clock + Emeralds + Redstone Dust
Tier 2 Booster
- Boost Rate: 5x speed (configurable)
- Energy Cost: 10,000 FE/tick (configurable)
- Range: Up to 6 blocks
- Recipe: Gold Ingots + Tier 1 Booster + Emeralds + Redstone Dust
Tier 3 Booster
- Boost Rate: 10x speed (configurable)
- Energy Cost: 20,000 FE/tick (configurable)
- Range: Configurable radius (default 3 blocks, scans a cube area)
- Recipe: Diamonds + Tier 2 Booster + Emeralds + Redstone Dust
- Special Feature: Boosts multiple blocks within its scan radius simultaneously
Mana Booster (Requires Botania)
- Boost Rate: 5x speed (configurable)
- Energy Cost: 100 Mana/tick (configurable)
- Range: Up to 6 blocks
- Recipe: Netherite Ingots + Tier 1 Booster + Emeralds + Redstone Dust
- Special Feature: Uses Botania’s Mana instead of FE
Note: The Mana Booster is not available in the 1.21.1 version because Botania has not yet updated to that game version. Keep an eye on the mod’s Discord community for updates on compatibility.
Server-Friendly Performance Protection
One of the biggest fears when adding speed boosters to a server is that a player might place dozens of them and tank the TPS. The Blocks Tickrate Booster mod tackles this head-on with several layers of lag prevention, all configurable in config/blockbooster-common.toml.
TPS Protection
When enable_tps_protection is set to true, boosters automatically pause if the server’s TPS drops below the min_tps_threshold (default 15.0). This means that during heavy load spikes, the boosters will stop consuming energy and stop accelerating blocks, allowing the server to recover naturally. Once TPS climbs back above the threshold, they resume operation seamlessly.
Per-Chunk Limit
The boosters_per_chunk setting (default 5, range 1–20) restricts how many boosters can be active in a single chunk. This prevents a single player from saturating an area with dozens of Tier 3 boosters and grinding the server to a halt.
Slow Block Prevention
Some modded blocks have complex logic that already strains the server. The prevent_slow_blocks option (enabled by default) monitors how long each block takes to process. If a block exceeds slow_block_threshold_ns (default 5,000,000 nanoseconds, or 5ms), it gets flagged as “slow” and will not be boosted. This stops boosters from amplifying an already problematic block.
Redstone Control
With deactivate_with_redstone set to true (default), applying a redstone signal to a booster will disable it. This gives you manual control to toggle boosting on demand, perfect for setups where you want to conserve energy or temporarily halt acceleration.
Whitelisting and Blacklisting Block Entities
Not every block should be boosted. The mod includes a powerful filtering system. The white_list array, if populated, only allows those specific block entities to be boosted (e.g., "minecraft:furnace"). Block tags like "#somemod:some/tag" are also supported. The black_list array prevents certain blocks from ever being accelerated; by default, it includes "mekanism:bounding_block" to avoid issues with multiblock structures. To find a block’s ID for these lists, use the in-game command /booster_show_block_id while looking at the block.
Managing mods and their configurations can be daunting, but using a modern launcher like the one at foxygame.net simplifies the process. With its flexible, convenient menu, you can install the Blocks Tickrate Booster mod directly and jump straight into tweaking those TPS settings, making the whole experience feel effortless.
Fine-Tuning the Configuration
All the magic happens inside the config/blockbooster-common.toml file. Beyond the performance settings already mentioned, you can adjust energy costs and boost rates for every tier. For example, you might set t1_fe_per_tick to 3000 for a cheaper Tier 1 booster, or crank t3_boost_rate to 15 for an extreme (but dangerous) speed. The t3_scan_radius (default 3, up to 10) controls how many blocks the Tier 3 booster scans in a cube, allowing you to boost entire clusters of machines at once. Always test changes on a creative world or a private server before rolling them out publicly—an overzealous configuration can still create lag despite the protection layers.
Why This Mod Belongs in Your Modpack
The Blocks Tickrate Booster mod fills a gap that many automation-heavy packs suffer from: scaling production without multiplying lag. By offering tiered, energy-hungry boosters and wrapping them in robust server-protection features, it encourages thoughtful engineering rather than brute-force machine spam. Whether you’re running a small kitchen-sink pack with friends or a large public server, the ability to configure every aspect—from per-chunk limits to TPS thresholds—makes this mod a safe and powerful addition to your world. Just remember to test your setups and keep an eye on those TPS numbers; with the right tweaks, your furnaces will hum at 10x speed without a single tick lost.
