Nyx's Craftable Music Discs
Collecting music discs in vanilla Minecraft often feels like a game of chance. You either spend hours luring skeletons to shoot creepers or endlessly raid bastions and ancient cities, hoping for that one elusive track. Nyx's Craftable Music Discs changes everything by giving you the power to craft every single disc using straightforward recipes. Whether you are a builder wanting ambient tunes for your base or a completionist aiming to fill every jukebox, this add-on transforms music disc hunting from a grind into a rewarding crafting adventure.
What Makes Nyx's Craftable Music Discs Essential?
This add-on introduces a complete set of crafting recipes for all music discs in Minecraft, including rare ones like "Pigstep," "Otherside," and "Relic." Instead of relying on mob drops or dungeon loot, you can now gather common materials and craft your favorite tracks at a crafting table. The recipes are thematically designed—for instance, "Pigstep" requires nether brick and gold, while "Ward" uses sculk to reflect its deep dark origins. This thoughtful design keeps the add-on feeling like a natural extension of the game rather than a cheat.
Complete Crafting Recipes for Every Disc
Here is a breakdown of the crafting recipes you can use with Nyx's Craftable Music Discs. Each recipe uses a music disc as a base, combined with materials that match the disc's theme or sound.

These recipes are designed to be balanced, encouraging you to explore different biomes and dimensions to gather the necessary ingredients. For example, obtaining a ghast tear for "Strad" or "Tears" sends you to the Nether, while shulker shells for "Mellohi" require an End city expedition. The add-on also includes a unique recipe for the "Creator" disc, which uses oxidized copper to mirror its ancient, mechanical sound.
How to Install Nyx's Craftable Music Discs
Installing the add-on is straightforward, regardless of your preferred setup. For vanilla Minecraft, download the data pack and place it in your world's "datapacks" folder. Then, either reload your world or run the /reload command to activate the recipes. If you are using a modded environment, Nyx's Craftable Music Discs is also available as a mod for Fabric and Forge loaders, supporting Minecraft versions 1.19 through 1.21. The mod version integrates seamlessly with other mods and can be dropped into your mods folder like any other.
For players who want the simplest experience, the foxygame.net launcher provides a one-click installation of Nyx's Craftable Music Discs, automatically handling version compatibility and updates. This means you can skip manual file management and start crafting discs immediately. The launcher also keeps the add-on updated, so you never miss a new disc recipe when Minecraft introduces additional music.
Why Choose This Add-on Over Vanilla Disc Hunting?
Vanilla music disc collection is notoriously unreliable. You might get ten "Cat" discs before finding a single "Pigstep," and some discs like "Otherside" are locked behind rare dungeon chests. Nyx's Craftable Music Discs removes that frustration while still requiring effort—you must gather materials, which often involves combat, mining, or exploration. It strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and challenge, making it ideal for survival worlds where you want to enjoy the game's full soundtrack without spending dozens of hours on RNG.
Compatibility and Supported Versions
Nyx's Craftable Music Discs is compatible with Minecraft Java Edition versions 1.19, 1.20, and 1.21. It works as a standalone data pack, so no mod loader is required for vanilla gameplay. However, if you prefer a modded experience, the add-on is also available for Fabric and Forge, ensuring broad compatibility with other mods. The add-on is lightweight and does not impact performance, so you can enjoy your custom music discs even on lower-end systems or busy servers.
Tips for Using Nyx's Craftable Music Discs
To get the most out of this add-on, consider setting up a dedicated crafting area near your jukebox. Since many recipes require iron ingots and dyes, a small iron farm and a flower farm can streamline production. You can also combine this add-on with automatic crafting mods to mass-produce discs for large builds or server events. Remember that the "11" disc requires a blast furnace, so keep one handy if you want to complete your collection.
Another great feature is that the recipes are intuitive enough to memorize after a few uses. This makes the add-on feel like a natural part of the game rather than a separate system. Whether you are a new player or a veteran, Nyx's Craftable Music Discs adds a layer of creativity to your Minecraft soundtrack.
