Netherite to Obsidian: A Darker Take on Minecraft's Strongest Gear
Netherite is the endgame material in Minecraft, but its brownish-grey palette does not appeal to every player. If you have ever wished your hardest-earned gear looked as menacing as it feels, the Netherite to Obsidian add-on is exactly what you need. This compact texture pack swaps the default netherite appearance for a deep, glossy obsidian finish, giving your tools, weapons, and armor a dramatic new identity without touching a single game mechanic.
What the Netherite to Obsidian Pack Changes
The concept behind this pack is simple and effective: everything made of netherite now looks like it was carved from obsidian. The full set of retextured items includes:
- Netherite Block
- Netherite Sword
- Netherite Pickaxe
- Netherite Axe
- Netherite Shovel
- Netherite Hoe
- Netherite Helmet
- Netherite Chestplate
- Netherite Leggings
- Netherite Boots
All main textures were created by IvanTheInsane, also known as Iv411229, who handled the artwork personally. The result is a cohesive set where every piece shares the same dark, glassy aesthetic. The block in particular stands out in storage rooms and vaults, turning a functional crafting material into a genuine decorative centerpiece.
Why Players Choose an Obsidian Look
Obsidian has a special place in Minecraft culture. It is the block you mine to reach the Nether, the frame of every portal, and one of the toughest materials in the game. Dressing netherite in that same visual language makes a statement. A full set of obsidian-styled armor looks almost like enchanted volcanic glass, and the sword and pickaxe carry a weight that the vanilla textures never quite achieve. For builders who design dark, gothic, or nether-themed bases, this pack fits the palette perfectly.
Because this is a visual overhaul only, there is no risk to your world. Stats, durability, enchantments, and crafting recipes remain completely untouched. You can add the pack to an existing survival world, a creative build, or a multiplayer server without any compatibility concerns.
Supported Versions and Loaders
Netherite to Obsidian is built as a resource pack, which means it works on both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition across a wide range of recent Minecraft versions. On Java, simply drop the pack into your resourcepacks folder and enable it from the in-game menu. On Bedrock, import the .mcpack file and activate it under Global Resources or per-world settings. Because resource packs do not rely on mod loaders like Forge or Fabric, installation is straightforward regardless of how you play.
If you prefer a smoother setup, the foxygame.net launcher offers one-click installation for packs like Netherite to Obsidian, handling the file placement automatically so you can skip the manual folder work entirely. The launcher also keeps your add-ons updated and checks version compatibility before you launch, which is handy when Mojang ships a new patch and you want to confirm your textures still apply cleanly.
