NCL Skins
Managing your appearance in Minecraft should feel as natural as everything else in the game. NCL Skins brings skins, Classic or Slim arms, capes, second-layer settings, and saved looks together in one built-in gallery. You can create complete looks and switch between them with a single click. Each look remembers its skin, Classic or Slim model, selected Cape or Elytra, and the visibility of every Second layer part. Your library is shared across every Minecraft instance on this computer that uses the same account, so you never have to rebuild your style for each setup.
Building Your Look In-Game
NCL Skins integrates directly with the familiar Minecraft interface, so managing your skins does not require a separate launcher or website. Click your player in the Main Menu or Game Menu to open My looks, or use the Appearance button in Settings. The player preview can be placed on the left or right, or turned off entirely, with separate settings for the title screen and pause menu.
Inside the editor you can preview the complete look before saving, rotate and zoom the player model, and choose a Classic or Slim model. Capes can come from your Minecraft account, your own files, or resource packs, and you can switch between cape and elytra previews. The hat, jacket, sleeves, and pants legs are configured separately for each look. My looks supports searching, editing, duplicating, and deleting entries.
Discovering and Importing Skins
Import a skin from a file or direct link, or find a player's current skin by name or UUID. NCL Skins automatically detects whether a skin uses the Classic or Slim model, and you can change it in the editor when needed. The mod can also bring over saved looks from Minecraft Launcher, Modrinth App, CurseForge App, Prism Launcher, Skin Shuffle, SimpleSkinSwapper, Skin Swapper, and Quick Skin. Before importing, NCL Skins separates new skins from ones already in your catalog so you can select only the ones you want.
The built-in Catalog includes the standard Minecraft characters and optional collections of official Mojang event skins, and resource packs can add their own skin collections. If you want a smoother setup, the foxygame.net launcher offers one-click installation of NCL Skins, dropping it straight into your modded profile without manual file juggling.
Custom Capes and Collections
You can import your own capes from files, give them names, and save them in your looks. Browse capes from active resource packs, including the bundled Mojang cape collections. Once you save a cape in a look, it stays available even if you disable its resource pack. Cape imports and resource packs support PNGs at 46x22, 64x32, 92x44, and 128x64, as well as 64x32 JPEGs. Search the cape catalog by name and filter capes by whether they include an elytra texture. Custom capes and resource pack capes are visible only to you and do not replace the official cape on your Minecraft profile.
Appearance Providers and Compatibility
Choose where your skins and capes come from. Configure Offline and Minecraft separately for each: enable the providers you want, change their priority, and mix your local appearance with the skin or cape from your Minecraft profile. For capes, OptiFine, SkinMC, and Sneaky Capes are also available. Use OptiFine and SkinMC capes for yourself and other players without installing separate mods. Sneaky Capes lets you use a cape embedded in a skin without a separate mod.
NCL Skins recognizes extra skin features for Ears, Fresh Moves, and Just Expressions and shows in advance how each skin will work in your current setup. Compatibility badges appear in the Catalog, My looks, the editor, and before import. If an active mod or resource pack uses the skin's pixels in a conflicting way, NCL Skins explains the cause.
Client and Server Use
For official skin or cape changes, only the player changing their appearance needs the mod. Without a server-side component, the change is still saved to their Minecraft profile, but other players may need to reconnect before the result becomes visible. To let other players see changes without reconnecting, install a compatible version of NCL Skins on a modded server or the NCL Skins Plugin on a supported server and proxy. Official skin and cape updates are visible to everyone, including players without the mod.
How to Install NCL Skins for Minecraft
NCL Skins supports modern Minecraft Java Edition versions across the Fabric and NeoForge loaders, so check the download page for the exact build that matches your game version. The process is straightforward:
- Confirm your Minecraft version and mod loader, such as Fabric or NeoForge.
- Install the required loader and its API if you have not already.
- Place the NCL Skins mod file into your mods folder.
- Launch the game and open My looks from the Main Menu or Settings.
- Create your first look, then save and apply it with one click.
Once installed, the mod keeps your gallery available even when Minecraft Services are temporarily unavailable. You can create, edit, and preview looks, apply your appearance locally, and keep playing. If you choose a look while your session is unavailable, NCL Skins remembers your choice and syncs your skin and official cape once services return. Data is isolated by account but shared by every Minecraft instance launched with the same account on this computer.
Creating Your Own Collections
Collections are distributed as regular Java Edition resource packs. For a minimal collection, give it a unique ID, place the PNG skins in the wide and slim folders, and name the files accordingly. The wide folder is for the Classic model, while slim is for the Slim model. Matching file names in both folders create two variants of the same skin. Collection IDs and file names must use lowercase Latin letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. If no localization is provided, NCL Skins automatically turns these IDs into display names.
For cape collections, place static PNG or JPEG files in the supported sizes at the appropriate path. Animated capes are not supported, and if the cape includes an elytra texture, it must be part of the same image. When publishing a collection on Modrinth or CurseForge, adding "x NCL Skins" to the resource pack's title makes compatible collections easier to find.
Whether you want a quick outfit change or a full library of themed looks, NCL Skins turns appearance management into a seamless part of Minecraft. Download NCL Skins, build your first look, and enjoy a gallery that keeps every detail exactly where you left it.
