Lapis Enhancements
What if every lapis tool you crafted came out of the crafting grid already glowing with an enchantment? That is the core promise of Lapis Enhancements, a Fabric mod that turns an underused gemstone into a full equipment tier with a clever twist. Instead of treating lapis as just another crafting ingredient, this add-on gives you a complete set of tools and armor that start enchanted and can later be sacrificed to steer the Enchanting Table in your favor.
What Lapis Enhancements Adds to Minecraft
The mod introduces a familiar-feeling equipment set built around Lapis Lazuli. Every crafted Lapis tool or armor piece automatically receives one random Level I enchantment valid for that item, with curses, Mending, and Infinity excluded from the pool. That means a freshly crafted Lapis Pickaxe might come out with Efficiency I, while a Lapis Helmet could roll Protection I. You can keep that gear for your adventures or use it as fuel for something bigger.
Lapis Armor and Tools at a Glance
Lapis Armor matches Iron Armor for protection and durability, so it slots neatly into the early-to-mid game progression. The helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots all mirror their iron counterparts in armor points, which makes the set a dependable choice for players who want enchanted gear without hunting down diamonds.
The tool set covers the Sword, Spear, Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel, and Hoe. Standard Lapis tools share iron-level mining speed with 220 durability, which is 30 fewer uses than iron, and an attack speed 0.1 lower than the iron equivalent. The Lapis Hoe is a small exception, dealing one extra point of damage compared to iron. The Lapis Spear rounds out the lineup, and its attack-specific properties are shown in the in-game tooltip.
- Lapis Helmet: 165 durability, 2 armor points
- Lapis Chestplate: 240 durability, 6 armor points
- Lapis Leggings: 225 durability, 5 armor points
- Lapis Boots: 195 durability, 2 armor points
- Standard tools: 220 durability, iron-level mining speed
The Enchanting Table Catalyst Explained
Here is where the design gets interesting. An enchanted Lapis item can be placed into the Enchanting Table's existing Lapis Lazuli slot and used as a catalyst. Craft a Lapis Sword, receive Sharpness I, then drop that sword into the lapis slot and place another sword of any material into the normal enchanting slot. Each available offer then has a 90 percent chance to prefer Sharpness when it is eligible.
That is a weighted choice, not a guarantee. Available levels still depend on your enchanting power, and other compatible enchantments may still accompany the result. The catalyst also cannot influence Enchanted Books, so you cannot use this trick to force specific book trades. One Lapis tool or armor piece provides enough catalyst power to access any of the three offer tiers, and the item is consumed when you complete the enchantment.
Anvil and Grindstone Restrictions
To keep the automatic enchantment and catalyst systems balanced, Lapis equipment cannot be repaired in an Anvil, combined with another item or an Enchanted Book, disenchanted in a Grindstone, or used to collect enchantment experience from a Grindstone. Renaming still works, so you can personalize your gear without breaking the rules.
Supported Versions and How to Install
Lapis Enhancements targets Minecraft 26.3 and runs on Fabric with Fabric API and Java 25. If you want to download Lapis Enhancements, grab the file that matches your exact Minecraft version from the Files tab, then pair it with a matching Fabric API build on both the client and the server. In single-player, drop both files into your client's mods folder. On a Fabric server, install the same versions so multiplayer sessions stay in sync. This is the same straightforward process as any other Fabric add-on, so how to install really comes down to matching versions and loading order.
If you would rather skip manual file juggling, the foxygame.net launcher handles the busywork for you: it installs Lapis Enhancements in one click and keeps it updated automatically whenever a new build drops. The launcher's add-on catalog also tracks version compatibility, so you always get a build that matches your Minecraft release.
For players who enjoy shaders, IterationT is a strong visual companion to the Vanilla Enhancements collection, though it is a separate download and is not bundled with the mods. Place the shader pack in your profile's shaderpacks folder and select it in-game. Shaders remain optional, so check compatibility with your version and loader before enabling them.
Community and Support
The mods are developed by FireDragon1 as part of the Vanilla Enhancements collection, and you can explore the Vanilla Enhancements website for guides or join r/VanillaEnhancements to share builds and follow updates. If you prefer the whole collection in one package, the Mineral Enhancements modpack bundles everything together, and each mod is also available individually. When reporting a bug, include your Minecraft version, mod version, Fabric Loader version, reproduction steps, and a relevant log or screenshot, and remember to strip personal information from logs first.
Lapis Enhancements for Minecraft rewards planning as much as combat. Craft a set, roll the dice on your enchantments, and decide whether each glowing piece becomes your new favorite weapon or the catalyst that perfects the next one.
