Just Another Dyed Planks
If you have ever stared at a wall of vanilla oak planks and wished for a splash of color, Just Another Dyed Planks is the add-on you have been waiting for. This mod transforms the humble wooden plank into a vibrant canvas, introducing 16 complete wood sets that match every dye color in Minecraft. From the fiery red of Red Dye to the cool depths of Cyan, this mod ensures your builds no longer have to rely on concrete or terracotta for color variety. It is a simple, elegant solution that integrates seamlessly with the base game's crafting logic.
What Does the Mod Add?
This isn't just about recoloring a few blocks. Just Another Dyed Planks delivers a full architectural suite for each of the 16 dye colors. Each set includes all the essential wood variants you would expect from vanilla Minecraft, making it perfect for detailed builds. The complete list for every color includes:
- Planks
- Slabs and Stairs
- Fences and Fence Gates
- Pressure Plates and Buttons
- Boats and Doors
- Trapdoors
Whether you are constructing a cozy cottage or a massive medieval fortress, these dyed wood types offer a level of customization that standard building blocks simply cannot match.
Planned Features and Future Updates
The developer has a clear roadmap for expanding this mod. While the current version is already packed with content, future updates will introduce even more utility. Planned additions include signs, hanging signs, chests, and even chest boats. Additionally, the mod will eventually include logs and stripped logs for each color, allowing for a fully cohesive look. The mod is actively maintained and will be updated to new Minecraft versions as they release, ensuring long-term compatibility for your worlds.
Dyeing and Re-Dyeing Mechanics
The core mechanic of Just Another Dyed Planks is refreshingly straightforward. To create dyed planks, you simply surround any dye with eight planks of any kind in a crafting table. This recipe yields eight dyed planks in your chosen color. The beauty of this system is its flexibility: you can use any type of plank as the base, and the result is always the same vibrant color.
Even better, the mod supports re-dyeing. If you have a set of red planks and decide you prefer blue, you can simply re-craft them with blue dye. This feature also extends to planks from other mods, making it a universal tool for modpack players. All dyed planks are fully functional in recipes that require normal planks, so you can craft wooden pickaxes, shields, and more with your colorful materials.
Crafting and Recipe Book Integration
Finding the right recipe is easy. All dyed plank blocks can be crafted exactly like their vanilla counterparts. For example, you can create dyed slabs by placing three dyed planks in a row, or dyed stairs using the standard stair pattern. The mod fully integrates with the recipe book, unlocking all dyed plank recipes as soon as you craft your first dyed plank in a specific color. If you prefer a more visual guide, JEI (Just Enough Items) will display every available recipe and block variant.
Compatibility and Installation
This mod supports a wide range of Minecraft versions, including 1.14.4, 1.15.2, 1.16.5, 1.17.1, and 1.21.5, with newer versions receiving the full feature set. Note that the 0.1.0 version for these older versions does not include dyed plank boats, which are present in 1.0.0+ for all other game versions. The mod is designed for the Forge loader, ensuring stable performance across your modded setup.
If you are wondering how to install the mod, the process is simple. First, ensure you have the correct version of Forge installed for your Minecraft version. Then, download the mod file and place it into your "mods" folder. After launching the game, the mod will be active and ready to use. For a hassle-free experience, consider using the foxygame.net launcher, which simplifies mod management and ensures that Just Another Dyed Planks is always up to date with the correct version compatibility, allowing you to focus on building rather than troubleshooting. The launcher's add-on catalog makes it easy to find and install the mod with a single click.
Why You Should Download This Mod
There are countless reasons to download Just Another Dyed Planks. The textures are meticulously crafted by the developer, based on a grayscale version of the vanilla oak planks texture. Each block is tinted with the exact hex color code Minecraft uses for each dye, ensuring perfect color accuracy. This attention to detail means your builds will look cohesive and professional.
Another major advantage is the mod's versatility. It is fully compatible with modpacks, and the developer explicitly encourages its use in any pack. This makes it a fantastic addition to any collection, whether you are playing alone or with friends. The ability to use dyed planks in every vanilla recipe opens up a world of creative possibilities, from colorful redstone contraptions to decorative storage rooms.
Community and Feedback
The developer is open to suggestions and ideas from the community. If you have a feature you would like to see added, or if you encounter any issues, leaving a comment is encouraged. This active development cycle means the mod will continue to evolve, adding new blocks and features based on player feedback. It is a living project that grows with its user base.
